Video: One Click DVD Conversion

Awhile back we posted a review on DVD Catalyst 3 and how to take your movies with you. In short, after the initial setup, the program offers one-click conversions of DVDs. It does have a free trial so you can go try it out for a week or so, see if you like it. Watch the video for the how-to and to get the right settings for the Shadow.

By the way, DVD Catalyst is in our store as well. It’s less than $25, and saves you from a lot of headaches while easing your boredom and making long trips better.

Convert Your DVDs for Free

There are many methods for converting DVDs and just as many premium applications. This video walks you through my preferred free method for converting DVDs so I can watch them on my Shadow or any Windows Mobile device. When transferring the converted files, using the settings in the video, Windows tells me that it won’t work, don’t believe that, the videos will play on Windows Media Player Mobile.

The two applications I used in the video are:

Super - you can get it from www.erightsoft.com You will have to look hard for the download link as it isn’t well defined. Don’t download this from another site, this is the original site and updates are released frequently.

DVD Decrypter -This is an older freeware, the original site has gone missing so I’m hosting a copy here. It works fast and well. When you exit DVD Decrypter you might get an error message, just ignore it and press Ok enough times to get rid of it.

If you don’t mind the extra work and files then this is the way to go.

How to Take Your Movies With You: DVD Catalyst

DVD collections range from meager to impressive yet with all those discs in little plastic binders how can you comfortably take them with you? This is an age of convenience right? The best way to take your favorite DVD with you is to convert it into a format compatible and small enough to fit on your Shadow. This is where DVD Catalyst comes into play. Over the years I’ve used and tested many DVD conversion programs and I confidently say that DVD Catalyst is the best.

The main screen has no fluff and gets right down to business without confusing the process too much. Nearly every setting you need to mess with is displayed right at the start. To begin conversion run DVD Catalyst and insert the DVD you want to convert. DVD Catalyst will begin scanning the DVD and display the results. From there you will be able choose your settings and begin conversion. Keep reading to find out more. › Continue reading

Here’s How to Have Smoother Video

This post is a follow on to the post about watching “How to Watch Online Video“. Many of you have discovered that TCPMP is great for watching almost all video on the Shadow. One thing I noticed about TCPMP, as wonderful as it is, is the occasional jumpiness and laggy video. After messing with the settings I have found some that work really well.

From the main video screen press Options > Buffering > and double the number in the Normal Buffer Size field. Press Ok

Back at the main video screen again press Options > Video > Video Driver and Select ‘GDI’. Back at your main screen start the video and you should notice a huge improvement while playing your downloaded videos. Enjoy!
