Controlling your Vista computer from the Shadow

It is still in Beta but Ikanos Consulting is working on a very useful piece of software that literally turns your Shadow (smartphone, pocket pc phone, windows mobile phone) into a SideShow device for Windows Vista. SideShow has been one of the most ignored features of Vista mostly due to the fact that there aren’t many devices that can act as a SideShow device. Why Microsoft hasn’t written the software enabling a Windows Mobile device to act as a SideShow device is beyond me. However it isn’t beyond Ikanos to write the software.

While there aren’t many SideShow gadgets at the time of this writing, I can see many more useful gadgets being written once this software goes on sale. I was lucky enough to get a preview of Go Gadgets by Ikanos Consulting and I was just simply impressed at how easy it was to use. Using my phone I can control many things on my Vista computer including Windows Media Player, Email and the Calendar.

Not exactly eye candy but useful candy at this point. Very neat to be able to read email from the desktop pc.

Vista SideShow Coming to Shadow?

the::unwired tells us about a rumor that Vista users might have the ability in the future to have SideShow on their Windows Mobile device. This is very interesting as SideShow has been largely ignored for the most part.

Rumors include bluetooth control in addition to the interactive interface. For all the Shadow users, are there any features in SideShow that would make this a perfect addition to your Shadow?
