‘Cupcake’ update coming for Android…soon

Word on the street is that Google is going to release the ‘Cupcake’ update for the Android OS soon. Details are a little scarce but James Falconer reports bug fixes along with the virtual keyboard. Andy Salisbury also reports the virtual keyboard as well as camera updates (including video recording) and basic x86 support (not G1 specific). The Android Roadmap for Q1 2009 does mention the virtual keyboard and other input methods as well as a suggestion algorithm.
Other changes from the Roadmap:
- Save attachments from MMS
- Music now fades for phone calls
-
Many Browser enhancements
- Updated WebKit version
- Copy/paste is enabled
- Find is enabled
- Drawing is faster, pages with animations are 5x faster
- VoiceDialer now supports ‘open app’ command
- Camera features include the video recorder, video thumbnails, local playback and sharing
- Download manager is improved with better support for pausing, resuming and connectivity
- Tactile (Haptic) feedback
- Hardware accelerated video encoding
- Speech Recognition API
- Streaming Audio for apps
- Bluetooth support for A2DP and AVRCP (YAY!!!)
- Updated Linux Kernel
- Longer in call screen timeout

As usual this will be an OTA update. Since we’ve seen several since launch I have faith in this one showing up decently. What feature are you looking forward to, Bluetooth Stereo audio, on-screen keyboard or video recording?
Exclusive: HTC Talks About the Current T-Mobile Offering
We have a special treat for you. Some of the guys at HTC have put together a hilarious video about the current T-Mobile offering that is educational for those that aren’t in the know. You might notice a few things that surfaced here at AllShadow.com. Watch the video that only we have above and enjoy!
Announcing the Launch of Our Touch Pro/Touch Diamond Forums

Today we are excited to announce the launch of a new site that we’ve created, AllTouchSite.com. This new site will take on a similar format to AllShadow, but for the HTC Touch Pro and Touch Diamond phones, plus future HTC Touch devices.
So what are our plans for the new site? Well, because the Touch Pro and Diamond are not yet sold in the US, we’re going to keep the main site in low profile mode for a few weeks until we can get a hold of USA-versions of both devices. The forums will be open for business starting today - and, as we see the need, we’ll expand the number of topics. We realize that you probably don’t have a Diamond or Touch Pro yet, but if and when you do get one, we’ll be ready for you.
Here’s the beauty of the forums at AllTouchSite.com: it shares the same user database as the forum at AllShadow, meaning that you don’t have to re-register on the new site. Your post count, login/password, and PM mailbox all are synchronized. =D
Wait a sec, are we abandoning the Shadow? No, not even close. In fact, with the Shadow II just around the corner, and more and more themes/hacks/mods coming out for the original Shadow, we have a lot of really interesting content coming up here on the main site, and of course, the Shadow forums continue to be an excellent resource.
All that said, go take a peek at the AllTouchSite forums and start chattin’. If you see any bugs or issues, please post them here.
And hey - we’re hiring, both for AllShadow and AllTouchSite. It’s a paying position (we’re not going to make you rich, but it could be a decent part time income). If you’re interested and have a good amount of free time, fantastic writing ability, and a strong knowledge of the Windows Mobile platform, send us a resume at brandon(at)alltouchsite.com, with subject “Apply.”
Here’s a Quick Way to Stay Informed
AllShadow.com is now mobile friendly. All you have to do is point the browser on your T-Mobile Shadow to www.allshadow.com and you can interact with the site via your Shadow! You can read posts and even post comments via your Shadow.
Now you can check up on the latest News, Tips and Tricks as well as Deals and Software reviews while you’re on the go!
