Make Your Own Home Screens

Making your own Home Screens is now easier than ever thanks to HomeScreenBuilder. It’s free to use and supports nearly all of the Today screen plugins. It is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that enables you to customize the look and feel of your layout as well as enable or disable plugins as well as place them where you want. This is for the normal Windows Mobile Smartphone homescreen and won’t do anything for the NEO homescreen. If you want to give it a try head over to Madbeetle.com and get your copy. There are some advanced plugins available for some coin.

New Home Screen Status Bar

Rinku, a fine upstanding member of the Shadow community, has developed a beautiful plugin for the Shadow Home Screen. Instead of the monochromatic icons in the top of your screen, you can look at wonderfully colored icons. So far they are only visible from the Home Screen but Rinku is working on it.

To learn how you too can partake in these colored wonders check out this thread in the forums.

If you want to skip right to the main course Freddy Reyes created a .cab file that allows you to just install the needed files so you don’t have to hunt for them. You can get that at his site listed in the forum thread (You do need to register on Reyes’ site to download). You will still need to read the thread and change some files yourself, but there is satisfaction to be gained from getting your hands dirty.

Here’s How to Adjust Background Images

Dennis asked if there was a way to set an image as the Home screen background and not have it zoom in. It looks like it really depends on the size of the image itself. For example if you use the Waterfall picture that comes preloaded on the Shadow it will fit perfectly, but if you take a picture at 2MP resolution, set it as background you get the ‘Set Display Area’ screen. It looks like it will use that area but when you return to the home screen it is zoomed in. Here is a solution I found.
