Aside from the lucky few in our forum community there are still many waiting for the Android Hero update, so where is it? Apparently only devices sent directly from HTC have the update now. Anyone not willing to flash a new ROM to their phone by themselves will have to wait for T-Mobile to get around to finish testing it before they can mark it suitable for public consumption. Flashing ROMs can be tricky business so before you try such a thing be sure to read the entire thread and know what you are getting yourself into before you start.
With all the little goodies to come in this update you would have to have a lot of patience to wait that long. Unless…nah, you wouldn’t…perhaps?…okay go find the update in our Android forums. Enjoy!
PS. First person to post a direct link to the thread gets a free copy of DVD Catalyst when I post the review in a few days!
With all the news buzzing this morning on the announcement of the HTC Hero, Coming to T-Mo UK as the G1 Touch, there was bound to be rumors flying all over. Including a debunked one about the beautiful interface coming to Windows Mobile. The most interesting though, is that BGR and Pocket-lint are reporting that HTC CEO, Peter Chou, confirmed that “HTC sense will be available on some other existing devices.” With the only other HTC Android devices out being the HTC Magic/MyTouch and the G1, Things are looking pretty good for us. I must say this would be a wonderful thing, rather than going though the painful modding and hacking to use the incredibly unstable “Rosie“. Lets just hope T-Mobile lets it happen.
Well Android users, Android 1.5 aka Cupcake is finally here… Actually its been out for a couple months. The genius developers over at XDA have been hard at work for some time now getting stable versions of 1.5 to us long before T-Mobile. Read on for a brief summary of the Haykuro versions and a little about them, their growth, and where to get it. More >
Haykuro is this mystery guy who manages to get his hands on some sweet roms from time to time. He’s supposedly a 17 yr old Chinese kid, so more props to him. In this video he’s showing off what appears to be a custom HTC homescreen and user interface for Android. Notice the HTC Gadgets option when he adds a widget. This is supposedly the interface that will come on the HTC Hero. For a glimpse into the future check out the video.
