Google Nexus One Phone Round Up Update

nexus_train_11_sm Google is apparently having a big meeting January 5th. More than likely this will be the official introduction the newest version of Android and the Nexus One (aka Google Phone).

According to the recently discovered Terms of Sale pdf for the Google Phone it will sell unlocked for $429. It will be available through a carrier as a subsidized phone as well. So far T-Mobile is the only one mentioned. Of course if you sign up through TMo with the subsidized phone (2 year plan) and then cancel your contract you will be liable to Google for the subsidized amount, otherwise known as a product recovery fee.

Our take on the Nexus One/Google Phone: The sleek design will be a selling point for many. Many like their phone to look nice. Later on they will discover the power it has. On the subject of power, a 1GHZ Snapdragon processor may have been extreme 10 years ago when Google was first getting started but in our eyes that’s an expected development.

However, with more power, brighter screens and higher data speeds comes shorter battery life. Batteries haven’t seen significant advancements being brought to the general public in a long time. My expectation is that it’s going to be 2010, I should have a device that will last me through a long day of much use by now.

One thing that would be great is a solar panel screen, or back plate, so we have some method of charging it should we fall into a time portal. :D

  • Accelerometer as suspected
  • Magnetic Compass as suspected
  • FM radio along with Bluetooth and WiFI
  • A reference to a back mic
