A Traveler’s Friend

There are several different solutions to having weather on the home screen, some for the NEO home screen and many for the standard Windows Mobile home screen. WorldMate Live takes it a step further by throwing in one click access to your itinerary, travel tools, weather and more, all for free. Even though the home screen plug-in doesn’t work for the NEO you can still use it on the Shadow. In addition to being easy to use it works for you on an easier level than most business/travel apps I have seen. For example, when you are done planning a trip (or having a travel agent do it for you) just email a copy of your itinerary to WorldMate Live and the system automatically begins tracking your flights, providing directions, maps, and weather. Free DVD Catalyst…Free

Okay good news and more good news First the good news, I tested this out on Vista and it worked great. Now the more good news is it also works on XP. If you remember we posted about DVD Catalyst 3 awhile back and gave it a high rating. DVD Catalyst Free is not DVD Catalyst 3 but it comes from the same people, which means it should work but if it doesn’t don’t let that reflect on DVD Catalyst 3 until you try both.

A word of advice, don’t insert the DVD until you have opened DVD Catalyst Free and selected Windows Mobile from the drop down menu. Also you might need TCPMP on your Shadow to play the movie. If the file size looks a bit big for you just grab that white slider at the bottom and move it until you’re happy.

You can get DVD Catalyst FREE in our store…for free

Convert Your DVDs for Free

There are many methods for converting DVDs and just as many premium applications. This video walks you through my preferred free method for converting DVDs so I can watch them on my Shadow or any Windows Mobile device. When transferring the converted files, using the settings in the video, Windows tells me that it won’t work, don’t believe that, the videos will play on Windows Media Player Mobile.

The two applications I used in the video are:

Super - you can get it from www.erightsoft.com You will have to look hard for the download link as it isn’t well defined. Don’t download this from another site, this is the original site and updates are released frequently.

DVD Decrypter -This is an older freeware, the original site has gone missing so I’m hosting a copy here. It works fast and well. When you exit DVD Decrypter you might get an error message, just ignore it and press Ok enough times to get rid of it.

If you don’t mind the extra work and files then this is the way to go.
