Need help downloading Opera Mini

New postby migdier on Fri Feb 08, 2008 2:29 am

Can someone please assist me? I got my Shadow a couple days ago, I'm have the $5.99 't-zones' and am trying to download opera mini to browse the internet instead of using live, but I'm either getting errors. Am I doing something wrong? Or is Opera not supportd by the Shadow?

opera mini is a java app.

i havnt tried to use it. but i would imagine that you must use the java program on the phone to use java phone apps.

I did the upgrade posted earlier and did some changes to the settings to get the internet to actually work on the phone. I found a link here on allshadow to a how-to video on installing opera mini 4, but it said using the default manuf. settings. I'm now wondering if this is what is preventing me from doing the download.

I added the data plan for $19.99 and then changed the GPRS and proxy settings in Connections and everything is loading great now. I downloaded opera mini and it works like a charm.

i installed both operamini and TCPMP a few days ago. right after the install they worked great, but the past two days the operamini says it "cannot connect to the internet" and the TCPMP says it cannot "open the file". i can connect to the internet using regular IE browser, just not the operamini. is this a recent problem with anyone else or is it just me? (the operamini has worked on occasion using wifi but not with the $5.99 internet)

badbob001 wrote:The java that comes with the phone is jeodek which doesn't support full screen I think. Try installing the jbed java, which does full screen. Jbed also supports internet connections over proxy (tzones) for your gmail / opera mini users.

Latest version of jbed here (3.1): http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17616
Slightly older version (2.1) with instructions: http://eazyvg.wordpress.com/2007/10/17/ ... temis-wm6/

Windows Mobile 6 T-MobileWeb (t-zones) Instructions:
1. In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data:
Tmobile Data Connects to: WAPNetwork
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

2. Add a 2nd GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data 2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

3. Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy

First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy 2 Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

4. In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC

5. To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet

6. To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)
Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isn’t available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)

7. To get IE working:
(In Pocket Internet Explorer) Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check “Automatically Detect Settings”
Select Network: WAP Network

Tmobile dash internet sharing problem?? I’ll show you the how to connect to the internet with your Tmobile Dash. You can technically use it with the $5.99 plan but you have to specify the proxy server in your browser on the computer.
Tmobile Dash Setting

1. Connect you Tmobile Dash phone to your PC or Laptop.

2. From you Tmobile Dash -> Start - Accessories -> Internet Sharing

3. Click on Connect
PC & Laptop&nbsp ( Internet Explorer or Firefox Setting)

1. Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Settings

2. Check Use a proxy server (Under the Proxy Server Setting)

3. Enter Address: 216.155.165.50 Port: 8080

Will this be smart enough to switch to WiFi when available?

Or will it always use the phone data connection?
