Rubberized Case Mini Review

Posted by Mike Benton on April 18th, 2008

p1000449.jpg

A little while ago we posted about a great deal on a rubberized case for the T-Mobile Shadow. I ordered one as I am constantly putting my Shadow through hell and I wanted something to extend its life. I decided to post some close up pictures for everything to get a better idea of what it does.

p1000450.jpg p1000451.jpg

The case does feel rubberized but isn’t entirely. It’s a rubberized coating on the outside. That isn’t bad itself. Some people had posted that it’s a little difficult to get the case off. With some careful attention to the little ‘claws’ that hold it to the Shadow you can get it off just fine.

p1000453.jpg

For the price of $5.39 I think it’s a great deal. One thing I REALLY like about this case is it recesses the buttons on the front of the Shadow. How many times have you accidentally called people because of these buttons? Or accidentally answered a phone call in your pocket? Now I don’t worry about that anymore.

p1000452.jpg

On the back there is a square hole, you can also get the case with a belt clip. I didn’t op for that as I don’t like the Bat-Belt look. Just preference. Apparently the deal is still going on if you want to get your own Rubberized Case.

Suspected Shadow II Image

Posted by Mike Benton on April 15th, 2008

This could be the first image of the Shadow II. Not much in the way of specs yet on this one. Rumor has it that this will include UMA and HotSpot@Home capability. Rest assured we are working hard to get you the most details on the next Shadow. SO stay tuned.

Is This The Shadow II?

Posted by Mike Benton on March 4th, 2008

There is some buzz lately about T-Mobile’s new MDA Compact IV that is supposedly being released in Europe. The details are scarce but promising and a quick look at the picture and anyone can see it looks incredibly like the Shadow. No official word on if it is coming to the US but we can only hope. Here are the specs I could find and I am sure more are to come so stay tuned.

Rumored Specs:

  • 3 Megapixel Autofocus Camera - Even better pictures!

  • 4GB Internal Memory - Ready for music and movies right out of the box

  • VGA Screen (640×480) - Imagine the beauty of your videos on this one!

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE

  • Triband UMTS/HSDPA up to 7.2Mbps - That’s pretty damn fast, I would have to see this in person

  • Bluetooth 2.0 - Good to know

  • Wifi b/g - Always a plus

  • GPS is rumored - If this is the Shadow 2, then it BETTER have GPS. I see no reason why any Windows Mobile phone shouldn’t be rolled out without GPS nowadays

ROM Update for the T-Mobile Shadow Now Available

Posted by Mike Benton on February 6th, 2008

shadowupdate.jpg

Before you go clicking on and updating your Shadow please understand some things. There aren’t many software improvements in this update as far as I can tell. It is more of a fun update than anything else. If you do decide to update your Shadow with the new ROM update be advised you will completely erase all information from your phone and will be starting over from scratch. That being said, perform a complete and full synchronization of the Shadow with your PC and even take a minute to write down what you have installed yourself and any hacks you have done so you can restore these faster.

What the update includes:

  1. Five free ring tones from popular movies and musicians.
  2. Two free full length songs.
  3. An assortment of free phone wall paper images.
  4. Audio Postcard, a fun new myFaves connecting experience.
  5. Enhanced myFaves and menu graphics.
  6. Improved text entry experience.

With that being said you can go here for the update.

EDIT: You can also discuss this with other Shadow owners in this thread in our forums.

Yet Another Shadow Look Alike

Posted by Mike Benton on December 14th, 2007

It seems that the Shadow’s style is becoming quite popular. This time a Chinese Company, Santek, has cloned it with some minor changes to the DNA. This time it is an actual Windows Mobile phone. A shadow of the Shadow. Has anyone else seen any other Shadow wannabes?

Does an 8GB microSDHC Card Work on the Shadow?

Posted by Brandon Miniman on December 13th, 2007

The Shadow takes microSD cards, which is fine for sizes up to 4GB, but once you get above that, the format changes to microSDHC (which stands for Secure Digital High Capacity). The difference is that in order to achieve higher capacities, microSDHC has a slightly different memory addressing method than microSD and a theoretical maximum size of around 1TB. That’s a lot of storage. To learn more about SD memory card formats, check out the article at Wikipedia.

i593104.jpg

You may be wondering if you the Shadow is compatible with this different type of memory, and as reported by forum user Picasosz, they are. He is using an 8GB microSDHC card to store a handful of music and several movies on his Shadow. Right now, you can buy an 8GB SDHC card for about $119 over at the AllShadow.com Store.
