Even Cheaper: Black Rubberized Shadow Case

Posted by Brandon Miniman on May 5th, 2008

Back in April, we posted about a really inexpensive rubberized case for the Shadow selling for $5.39. About a week later, Mike reviewed the case, and found it to be a fantastic value.

I just checked up on the case on Amazon.com, and found the price to decrease another 50% to $2.68! At this price, you could get 12 for $32 and have a fresh case for each month of the year =).

Rubberized Case Mini Review

Posted by Mike Benton on April 18th, 2008

p1000449.jpg

A little while ago we posted about a great deal on a rubberized case for the T-Mobile Shadow. I ordered one as I am constantly putting my Shadow through hell and I wanted something to extend its life. I decided to post some close up pictures for everything to get a better idea of what it does.

p1000450.jpg p1000451.jpg

The case does feel rubberized but isn’t entirely. It’s a rubberized coating on the outside. That isn’t bad itself. Some people had posted that it’s a little difficult to get the case off. With some careful attention to the little ‘claws’ that hold it to the Shadow you can get it off just fine.

p1000453.jpg

For the price of $5.39 I think it’s a great deal. One thing I REALLY like about this case is it recesses the buttons on the front of the Shadow. How many times have you accidentally called people because of these buttons? Or accidentally answered a phone call in your pocket? Now I don’t worry about that anymore.

p1000452.jpg

On the back there is a square hole, you can also get the case with a belt clip. I didn’t op for that as I don’t like the Bat-Belt look. Just preference. Apparently the deal is still going on if you want to get your own Rubberized Case.

Black Rubberized Shadow Case

Posted by Mike Benton on April 10th, 2008

Amazon has a great deal on a Black Rubberized Case for the Shadow right now. Its usual price is $19.99 but you can get it now for $5.39. It’s good for proctecting the edges and shine of your Shadow and also gives it a slightly different look. From the pictures it looks like it might help prevent some accidental calling/answering due to the Shadow’s raised Send/End buttons. I just ordered mine and expect it in a few days.

There is also a transparent case and one with a belt clip. If you find deals like this be sure to let us know in the Ask Mike page so we can tell everyone else!

Get a 4GB microSDHC Card for Cheap

Posted by Brandon Miniman on March 31st, 2008

If you haven’t taken advantage of the Shadow’s storage expansion capabilities, now may be a good time. Amazon.com is currently feauturing a 4GB microSDHC card for less than $18. Those 4GB will allow you to store about 1000 songs, 8000 images, or 16 movies (depending on compression of these media forms, of course).

They’ve also got a promotion running where you’ll get a free USB memory card reader. Not bad. Click on to Amazon to view the product.

Here’s a Quick Way To Communicate In Russian

Posted by Mike Benton on February 15th, 2008

One of the great things about traveling overseas is seeing all the great sites, eating different foods and meeting new people. One of the not so great things is when you don’t speak the language. Yes, there are many phrase books out there that look really handy in the book store but once you are in country all kinds of things can go wrong like not being able to pronounce the words and so on.

What Was Wanted:

I wanted something that would make communicating in Russian easier. An Application that would help me learn, have audio examples, translation and be intuitive to use.

If you are a Boingo Hotspot Subscriber you will be pleased to know that they have finally added support for Windows Mobile 6 devices. Boingo provides unlimited PDA Wifi subscriptions for around $7.95 a month and has thousands of access points worldwide with over 5700 in the US. The Shadow is listed as a supported device and all Windows Mobile 6 devices do require a client application download to access the service.

Here’s a Quick Way to See How Your GPS is working

Posted by Mike Benton on December 19th, 2007

For those of you with a Bluetooth GPS unit that want to see how well it is working, or just want basic information, there is a freeware available from Chartcross Ltd called GPS Test that works very well on the Shadow. You can download it from their site. Setup is easy, just transfer to your device, install and open the application.

I used it to determine how well my GlobalSat BT Gps was working before getting Live Search to connect. GPS Test shows signal strength, satellite view, current location, heading, speed, etc.
