How to Disable the Message Sent Notification on Windows Mobile

If you send any number of messages during the day you will probably find it irritating whenever Windows Mobile decides to tell you that the message was sent. The other way that this could be handled is telling us if the message wasn’t sent. But Noooo, back in the day, pop up happy coders had their run at Microsoft and this bit of code is still irritating people world wide. Perhaps it could account for the high blood pressure and stress levels of the average person.

Good news! The same fix we used on the Original Shadow still works on the newer Windows Mobile Phones. To remove the sms sent notification message from your phone simply download and install this handy cab file aptly named mixtapeking1900-turn-sms-notification-off.

This has been tested on the UMA Shadow, Dash 3G and the Touch Pro2. If you have successfully run this on other devices let us know in the comments! Enjoy!

HTC Obsession to launch on T-Mobile

HTC logo

Of course we don’t know what the official name will be yet but rumors say the Diamond 3 is going to be the nom de plume. This will be one of the first Windows Mobile ‘Seven’ devices to hit the US. Hat’s off to T-Mobile if they follow through on this.

Some quick rumor specs:

  • 1-1.3 GHZ processor
  • 3G of course
  • 3.7 capacitive AMOLED display with MULTI TOUCH
  • 5 MP camera with flash and HD video recording (wow)
  • 512MB RAM/ROM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • microSDHC expansion (of course)
  • 1230 mAH battery (don’t expect this to last more than a few hours of heavy usage)

If this does hit soon I would like to thank the Android OS for giving Microsoft a swift steel-toed kick back into gear. Even though Android and Windows Mobile aren’t related they will be driving each other to better development from now on. If you opened your mailbox to find one of these HTC Obsessions sitting there, would you be excited? Tell us!

Windows Mobile ‘Seven’ Rumor Roundup

Note: Until it’s announced officially all of these are rumors.

‘The Wait For the Great Update’ – The Windows Mobile/Pocket PC world has been waiting well over 5 years for a groundbreaking update to the powerful operating system. In the meantime Microsoft has been passed up in the powerhouse category by Apple and then Google, not forgetting Blackberry’s own hold on business. Even Palm launched a redesign! So what is taking so long? Poor project management and not listening to customers. Well, Microsoft has said this will change and will never happen again.

In this post we will outline the current rumors and comment on their likelihood as well as how bad we want that particular change. Since these are rumors, chances are most of them will be something we want (hint hint @ Microsoft). More >
