Our friends over at CellPhoneSignal are reporting that Google Navigation is now available to Android 1.6 users. Previously it was only available to Android 2.0 but that has changed. Check out the video and how to access the Voice turn by turn navigation on Google Maps after the jump.

From CPS

“Google Maps Navigation is an internet-connected GPS system with voice guidance and automatic rerouting, all running on your mobile phone. Using Google services over your phone’s data connection brings important benefits to GPS navigation users, like using Google search (typed or spoken) to enter your destination; fresh map, business, and traffic data; and satellite and Street View imagery along your route.”

To access the GPS turn by turn Navigation simply look up a destination and google maps and choose ‘Navigate’ instead of Directions. There are plenty of features available so take time time to familiarize yourself with the app before hitting the road.
