TouchPro 2 is Here!
Slight delay here. I spent some time this morning trying to hunt down a T-Mobile store that had one this morning. I managed to locate one and zipped right on over to pick it up. Good news is that I got it, bad news is that I didn’t have room for an upgrade plan (I used it on the Dash 3G) so I had to pay full price. The verdict is still out on whether it is worth full price. I’m using the Touch Pro2, myTouch and the Dash 3G almost equally to really get a good feel for which one I prefer more. In case you were trying to find the Touch Pro2 on T-Mobile’s site you won’t find it listed under the ‘T-Mobile’ brand but under ‘HTC’ instead (Thanks Michael).
Full retail cost is $549.99 and the discounted price is $349.99 after the discount (which requires a 2 yr service agreement). I’m working on a video for you now to go over the basics and get some side by side action with the Shadow, G1, myTouch, Dash 3G and its predecessor, the Wing. So stay tuned!

Not all the stores in my area had the phone. It was funny because i went to the store two days in advance to see the demo and one of the sales reps hadnt even heard of a phone called the Touch Pro 2. She didnt know that they were having a phone release on the 12th. But i managed to find one store out of the 6 orprate stores in my area that had one. Diligence pays off I got one for the steep 349.99. I paid 297 up fron and took adavantge of the $100 allowance adding it to my t-mobile account. The phone is very nice. I used the MDA and the Wing before. I was using the 2007 Shadow before today, and I am impressed with the quality of this phone. There are some things that i wish it had such as a flash. but the Camera is awesome and the screen as welll as the conf. all feature.

Just got off the phone with T-Mobile Customer Service – It is important to stress with these smartphones T-Mobile now requires a “Smartphone Data Plan”. I asked them to clarify exactly what that is and they are referring to their “MyTouch” data plans which that “box” is posted under both the MyTouch3G and TouchPro2 details. The catch here is the plan is a 2 year contract commitment with one exception and that is after 60 days, if you buy a “phone-first” device at either the discounted and/or full price you’re free to change the data plan to “web2go” at $9.99; meaning if you can make this plan work on your smartphones, it’s all good. The reason is, the newer contract commitment supersedes the previous.
Equipment Installment Plan is available if shelling out $350 is a bit much for us. Whatever allowance you have, mine being $120 is removed and with the $18 upgrade fee & tax, my upfront costs are $276.00 in Alabama and the next $120 is spread out over the following 3 months; or $40 per month. I’m not aware you can exercise this option online, but at the store/kiosk they can add it to your following month’s bill.
I actually put my hands on this device at our kiosk in Auburn and I was extremely impressed with this device and the keyboard was spectacular.
I also talked to them about why all the love for the MyTouch3G and none for the TouchPro2. I was told the G1 was their number one selling phone up to the release of the MyTouch3G and they feel this phone has the same zing to it as then the Shadow 2007 and the appeal to all, not just what they feel is the business community or those who have had the MDA/SDA Vario devices and opted for the Wing as a natural progression towards the TouchPro2.
TouchPro2 pricing? I was told some knew about the $279.99 price yesterday, others didn’t know.
Last but not least, I asked them about a family internet plan and was told, their now looking at this option, but it’s all in the earliest of stages.

that is very thorough information that you provided Bill Berry. Spending 24 hours with the phone i love the capabilities of thia phone. My lady just upgrade from the G1 to the G2 MyTough3G and she loves it. I imagine that it may have a cult following like the sidekick and sidekick lx. But as she was playing with my phone last night she too had to concede that the Tough Pro 2 was something else entirely. This phone wasnt advertised that much either. Common folk didnt know that this phone was coming to T-Mobile. Lucky for us we keep our ears to the street, that is AllShadow.com!

I also wanted to add that the discounted price is only if you are adding another line or a new connection with data. @Mike B. – No problem, glad to be of help. I looked on the 12th and couldn’t find it as i thought it would be in T-Mobile section then I saw HTC and a smile came across my face. I ordered mine yesterday and cant wait. it should be here Wednesday.
