T-Mobile Touch Pro2 versus European Touch Pro2
It looks like TMoNews has just gotten hold of a plethora of T-Mobile Touch Pro2 images, giving us views of the entire device and letting us finally have a good look at the design.

If you’ve been following this device, you’ve undoubtedly read reviews of the European Touch Pro2 which has been out since June. So, what is different from a hardware perspective? Let’s take a peep…

To start, the keyboards have a similar layout, but are different in color. The T-Mobile version has black keyboard…

Whereas the Euro version’s is silver.

If you can ignore the screen grease, we see that the buttons on the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 are actually a bit more raised the the Euro version. The zoom slider is still there, and we have the T-Mobile branding.

Also, the Euro version has a front-facing video camera for video calls, but the T-Mobile version does not since the network does not support this capability.

Meh
and the US version has a port for the memory card.
So is this even the real touch pro 2 or is it something different because why would the hardware be different the color maybe but the tmo version looks completely different then the euro version and why does it have to be brown the silver is gorgeous but that brown is hideous but overall the two phones look nothing alike other then the keybourd and tilting screen but whatever if most of the features are the same I won’t mind the physical changes so much.
The designs are different because Tmo decided they wanted to change the look. It’s still the same phone, minus a few features that Tmo USA does not support.
I love this phone. I do love the Euro a bit more though. It would be nice to have the forward camera still even if not supported as I’m sure one of our great developers could figure something useful for it (like the Android price scanner) Oh well. I’m still getting it unless the phone is rediculous in price. Then i don’t know what I’ll do since my shadow is on it’s last leg.
i still like it, so it doesn’t matter, i’m getting it!!
I have the Euro version and I love it. Trust me when I say, “when you get this phone in your hands you will be addicted all over again”. I also am glad I have the silver keyboard and I don’t have that big Tmobile logo tattooed on the front of that beautiful device.
I don’t know why T-Mobile has to make everything ugly…
Dude! Why is the US version all dirrty?>!
Im not sure I think I like The European better?! ahh!!!
is it true that the touch pro2 is going to get an update to windows mobile 6.5 after its released?
@Joshh
Yes.
And if it’s not going to get an official update, then there will probably be an “unofficial” one.
The Euro keyboard is made of plastic, Tmo’s keyboard is made of rubber
That’s more than just a difference in color
wow thats good then.
when is it supposed to be released?
why cant we get a front facing camera….my old samsung t809 had one and took great pics.
@ CT: What do you mean the Euro version has a plastic keyboard? You must have never had one in hand because that is the furthest from the truth. The keys have sorta of a soft rubberize fell to the keyboard keys. Now maybe under the keys it maybe plastic and the battery cover, but the keys themselves no.
T-mobile is somewhat of a discount carrier here in the US, and has likely negotiated a discount price for the TP2. HTC likely sells the hot looking reference model and nicer TP2 designs to other carriers for more and the simpler designs to discount companies like t-mobile at a better price. The reference model is the full retail version and most expensive. This is only a guess but it makes sense to me. In some of the pics the t-moble version looks pretty good though and those who have seen it in person have good things to say.
Regarding the front facing camera on the HTC diamond retail model(a truly beautiful phone) which I just had to have even though some diamond models didn’t have the front facing camera. I have had the phone for a year and I don’t think I have ever even turned the front camera on. It’s not as important once you realize it has no purpose for you.
Based on the newest specs I’ve seen the t-mobile version tp2 is a tad thinner and shorter, but also a tad wider and heavier than the euro reference model. T-mobile version does have backlit keyboard, stylus, and side memory card slot with cover.
Well, here are quite a few people complaining on T-mobile’s website about T-mobile’s awkward styling.
