Google Labs is working on a podcast catcher/player that is available for Android. It lets you search, subscribe, download and stream. You can subscribe to search terms and it will automatically create an ‘audio magazine’ for you that is automatically updated everytime you listen. It’s worth checking out and be found in the Android More >

There is a lot of commotion going around about the Nexus One. Who would have thought all those years ago that a search engine would be releasing their own phone? Chuong tells us it has passed through the FCC with support for T-Mobile’s 3G network and no sign of support for the AT&T bands so More >

Dom2684 has put together a concise tutorial in the Android Forums on how to create more ‘internal memory’ for Android Apps on your G1, myTouch and other Android phones. Basically it involves creating an ext2 partition on a memory card that tricks Android into thinking it has more internal memory. Unlike a certain iPhone 3G, More >

Yeah I had some problems too I had a force close message that would not go away on the home screen. but I use appsmanager from the market and have backed up the all my apps to sd card, then did the steps bin the tutorial for 1.5 again only this time instead of the install from sd I pushed factory reset and did all that jazz and now it works fine except the home screen doesn’t auto rotate but whatever at least I have main features and I can stop waiting and when the final ota comes out I guess it. Will fix these problems but I think the manual update is worth it.

@Andrew:
Could not locate the appsmanager in the Market.
What is the exact name of that app???
Home Screen does not auto-rotate. You have to open the keyboard.
Be sure to go to Settings, Sound & display, Orientation, check box. Its un-checked by default.
If you run into problems, do a wipe first (ALT+H) then simply follow instructions again.

Its called appmanager sorry about that no s or space between the two its a cool app though some apps are copy protected so it won’t work on those ones.

Both ahome and open home auto rotate with the new android os and I like those better then the android home screen anyway. There is also a new keyboard skin app called better keyboard by better android on the market too havnt tried it yet but maybe soon.

If you want to save space on your SDcard,
& easily re-download your recent apps after a reset:
Go to Market, My Downloads.
Updates will automatically be shown for any of your recent downloads.

overall the new updates are good. one thing i noticed is the built in web browser no longer has a home page button / option. maybe it will be back in the final official release.
still hate the g1. 7 months and still no real productive apps, etc. definitely getting the touch pro when it comes out.
and for tmobile ftw – if you like the shadow, you will be disappointed with the g1. wait for the touch pro with win mobile.

@tmobile ftw
Look I have both a shadow and a g1 and I like both. The g1 and the android platform is still in its infancy you can’t really judge it on 7 months of time, and winmos been around for like 7 years so its matured a lot but its all matter of what you are using it for. I will probably buy the touch pro when my contract is up but its just because I like winmo too. Who knows maybe Android will be so good at that point ill want the g2or something. Go play with the phones at the tmo store figure out wich one you like better.
