The Shadow II Gets Detailed Specs

Well - we told you that the Shadow II would be out in early 2009, so it’s probably no surprise to you that the release date has been pinned right at the 28th of January. It looks like finally we have a list of full specs…no more speculations.
Thanks to BGR for unearthing the specs. Here they are:
* Wi-Fi – including @Home (Hotspot Enabled)
* Large, vibrant 2.6″ screen with reflective surface
* 20 key slide out keyboard with spin wheel navigation
* Large battery capacity
* Windows Mobile 6.1
* myFaves 1.5 W
* ork and personal e-mail
* Music and video multimedia player
* Instant messaging
* Stereo Bluetooth
* Mini USB SD expandable memory slot (4GB max)
* Speakerphone
* Bluetooth 2.0
* Audio postcard
* Mp3 Hi-Fi ringers
* HTML Web browsing
* Quad-band world phone
* Picture messaging
* Text messaging
* EDGE/GPRS
* t-zones/ web2go
* T-Mobile address book
* Mobile Office and OneNote
* Enhanced device help
So, no surprises here. The Shadow II will be the first Windows Mobile phone to support UMA, which may help you save a ton of money on your phone bill. Besides that and the new colors, the Shadow II is a modest upgrade from the original Shadow. If you’re on T-Mobile and aren’t liking the G1, the Shadow II may be a good device to hold you over for a year or two until there is a better smartphone offering.
Of course, expect full Shadow II coverage at AllShadow.com coming up later this month!

So other than the fact that it looks like a used bar of soap, it has UMA, Myfaves, and 6.1… but I have 6.1 now, and i don’t need the myfaves ui, or uma. Everyone seems excited about myfaves though, I’m curious to see how this will work out in themes and custom roms since none of us are used to a real myfaves ui on our 6.1 shadows.
We will port the Windows Mobile 6.1 to the Shadow if People are able to do that. LOL
you think we will be able to move the 6.1 on this shadow 2 to us shadow 1 user’s phone? that is legally?
I’m really disappointed with the lack of 3G but, other than that I’m happy with the specs. If this is going to be a low end entry level Windows Mobile phone, like I suspect it’s going to be marketed as, then everything makes sense. Keep it cheap yet functional. (But I still think the lack of 3G stinks!)
Anyone wanna guess on the price? I’m thinking $50 with a 2 year contract.
Wonder why they listed large battery supply so far up on the list??
Haha
No 3G?…Guess its time to jump ship.
i wood sell my G1 and with the money id buy this phone, the white one is soo sexxie *drool* idk if i can ever go back to a non-touch screen phone
I don’t understand * Mini USB SD expandable memory slot (4GB max) isn’t that alot less capacity then we have now? Not that I can use even the 2gb card that i have….
Do we have a price associated with this phone?
Sorry I haven’t been around here much lately. But it seems as though your saying there is no touchscreen?
And by the way HaloMage, we can use much more than that on our phone now, but it still says it only supports a certain amount that is lower than we use. I think the Shadow says 8 GB, but we’ve been able to do more than that, you know what I mean?
It might be nice to re-sort that list or highlight which features are different that on Current Shadows.
To me it looks like out of 24 items listed we already have maybe 20 of them…
It may have better battery life any maybe they are pushing WiFi calling (#1 feature) which may help their system loading (lowering need for network expansion…)
ok listen every one. i have a t-mobile shadow and i have win 6.1 and skyfire, and from what im hearing this new one is just the same but looks better and has a better processor (240 instead of the 201) heres what im saying. if you have the old one dont but the new one just but a G1 OR A WIND FOR A DIFFRENT EXPERIENCE
SORRY WING. LOL
i think i am gonna sell my behold and get this over the g1, the g1 is nice, but it is too bulky, i don’t like phone that big, and touch screen phones are great but its not the main reason for me in buying the phone, its the features and the call qaulity that draws me to buy them. so i am gonna gte this shadow 2 until like the article said, a better smartphone comes to tmobile, which i am praying for in the near future
The two things i want aren’t in this phone: 3G and GPS. I was sure they would add both to the shadow 2. Oh well, guess i will play out my contract.
Looks/Sounds awsome I’ve tried the G1 its ok but im back to my Shadow. Hey is it true that their working on Shadow III ? And the G2/3 too
This is so whack… They release a new phone like every week… for example, i just bought a shadow like almost two months ago and paid like $220 for it or something like that… Worse, it’s now like $30 with a contract… Even worse, just a couple weeks after i got the shadow, they release the G1, and later the samsung behold… It gets better, now they’re releasing the Shadow*2*… so im basically stuck with the shadow for 2 years… I like wm phones, but the dash is whack, wing too expensive, g1 requires email/internet plans, then the shadow which is the best option… T-Mobile should be able to let s shadow users like “swap” the shadow for the shadow 2 for no cost and no contract renuwal… maybe a re-stocking fee for our shadows, but just something like that…
lol at edin
i just got my shadow a month ago and im already annoyed. the battery life is crap, the call quality sucks, the keyboard is not responsive enough leading to constant mistyping. it takes forever to power up and load pages. i didnt have these problems with my nokia 6133 that i used till it fell apart. i can already tell this one will fall apart too. when i heave it forcefully at the wall!
i’m sure this phone will sell successfully, i am gonna get it, because the shadow was good when i first got that, and this would be better, the g1 is too big and will wiegh my pocket down, i prefer to have this until there will be a better smartphone to come to tmobile.
WHERE ARE ALL THE SHADOW FANS??? THATS WHAT THIS SITE WAS MADE FOR IN THE BEGINNING BEFORE THEY COMBINED IT WITH THE G1 :/
i guess i will be the one and i mean ONE who will be the TRUE shadow series fan on this site, lol…….this site has made my original shadow even better as updates, hacks, themes were available everytime i checked the forums.
Can someone find out what version of Java it comes with?
Question: If it can use Wi-fi, is there as much of a need for 3G? Other than looking something up on a map while I’m in a car, I imagine most of my browsing would be occurring within range of a wireless router.
wifi is just as good as 3g, this phone doesn’t need 3g if you ask me, the original shadow was fast with wifi alone, but it wouldve been great to have it, i am still getting this phone tho
wow looks same i wanted them to put 3g and touchscreen BUT NO THIS IS A DISSAPOINTMENT AFTER A LONG…. WAIT
I love my Shadow but am just about sick of T-Mobile. Only three WM choices. Wing is a wing, Dash is re-hashed and what’s up with the red keyboard on a copper phone. Still only a PCMCIA that does not run on the ever just about ready 3G network. All other major carries have several nice and stylish touch screen WM phones and USB and Express Cards running on broadband speed networks. Buy a new phone and get a refurbished one if yours breaks within the warranty period (huh?).
Love the Shadow but probably gonna have to look at another carrier if T-Mobile can’t get REALLY new products to the market.
[...] the Shadow II or Shadow 2009)…is showing its face at CES 2009. The specs are inline with what we’ve been reporting, plus an availability that falls somewhere later this month, probably around the 28th. Thanks to PC [...]
my thinking is tmobile is going like the used car dealer are doing put a new pair of tires on a old car and there you go.shadow is a great phone and just like the dash good phone to i have one but like i said used car new tires
I love my shadow only had a couple problems with it but I just wondering what is this new my faves thing and what is uma? just curiose cause im looking into getting the new shadow since I love this one so much
I took over my stepson’s original Shadow after he upgraded to the Curve. Short up overclocking the CPU there is no sane reason to upgrade the 2009 version. I have WinMo 6.1, 8GB micro SD card, Sliding panels, Skype, and tweaked it here and there and I’m happy with the phone though I agree with some critics about call quality though I use a Cardo S2 headset for my music and making calls. Like everybody else, I’d love to see this phone have 3G and maybe in a future update it may, but ever since I’ve gone from an APN of wap.voicestream.com to epc.tmobile.com my EDGE speeds are quite respectable so I can tolerate the wait a bit longer, but I see from what HTC has leaded there appears to be a Wing 2 and a Dash 2 on the horizon, so I’ll be patient for a bit longer and save my upgrade for a later date. The Shadow isn’t as bad as I’ve read, and that matters.
