Shadow 2/II Coming…

Next year. Yes, that’s right; several of our sources say the Shadow 2 won’t be here in time for the Holidays so don’t expect it to magically show up. Some sources say it will be let loose in January while others have the date being pushed back later in the first quarter. Whatever the date is, the unveiling of the G1 has us wondering what T-Mobile could do to pump up Shadow fans about the big Dos. We haven’t seen anything Shadowesque coming through the FCC under any code names lately, so does that mean the hardware we know about is going to stay as is? Will there be a significant OS upgrade? Will the Shadow 2/II sport Windows Mobile 7?
If you have the original and were holding out for the Shadow II, don’t fret - we have a ton of ways to modify the original Shadow to make it really powerful and customized (through our Wiki and Forums), and if you don’t want to wait any longer to upgrade, you could always jump to the G1.
As most long time AllShadow community members know, a phone doesn’t have to be touch screen to be highly functional and/or powerful. Do you think T-Mobile is revamping the hardware for something a bit more modern? What do you think they are cramming under the hood Software-wise so the Shadow 2/II isn’t yet another bad sequel? Let us know in the comments…

I was looking forward that the Shadow II would be released in October with the G1! I still have my Shadow and I have switched to WM 6.1, which I love! But I get my 22-month renewal in December and might use it to get the discounted G1, still deciding what to do. Also am thinking of just not using my renewal yet, wait about 6 months and see what T-Mobile has in store and see where the G1 stands at that time.
Well I will be stoked to see what the two has to offer. I am not the biggest fan of the design though. I like the more squareish look of the shadow now, however if it is an upgrade I may consider overlooking the more rounded look. I did break down though and buy an ipod touch just cause I was jonesing for something touchscreen. The Shadow rocks and dances circles around all my friends phones! “Oh, you have Vcast?….that’s great, how about streaming video straight from your home computer?” MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I just Got One Question about the Shadow II!
will it be touchscreen?
Nope.
Not really liking the design or the color…I prefer my shadow and like you said with all the hacks and modifications to it, why even consider upgrading? If its touchscreen, that would be a different story…but it wouldn’t change the uglyness of it.
Did yall hear that T-Mobile has an awesome plan for unlimited text and email plus 100 MB of internet for the Shadow for only $19.99?
I’m waiting to see how the Shadow 2 will perform. Also, I hear there maybe a Dash 2 and Wing 2 in the next quarter. I like HTC and WinMo products. With VTap and Skyfire, it kicks iPhone’s behind!!!
@ Mike, like the previous poster has stated, T-Mobile has changed mobile internet prices across the board, including web and messages for the Shadow. Will you be writing an article here about it?
i just have one question how much is it?when the shadow came out it was 149.99.will the shadow 2 have the same price starting price?
i’ll take the g1 please =}
ugh… its hideous, even if it is touchscreen i would not buy it. i hope that phone is a rumor, it looks like it should have came before the shadow, since the first shadow does look better than this rumored “shadow 2″ the shadow 2 should look more like the mda vario iv. im 2 dissappointed in t-mobile and htc, they need to step it up…..doesnt look like it has flash either… whats the upgrade? the os? i pass. hopefully this is a rumor. just looks like that want ppl for hype for the new shadow anyway.

If the Shadow II is still planned for release, it would make sense to hold production until WinMo 6.5 is complete.
It will not have Windows Mobile 7. I’ve had indirect contact with one of the developers, and it is not anywhere near their “milestones” for even a beta release.
Could anyone explain to me the new T-Mobile web access plans? How much usage is 100 MB of web access? They recently discontinued the unlimited web access plan so if a customer cancels that plan in exchange for this new plan, you will not be able to get it back so I need to know if this is a better deal. Is 100Mb enough for a person like me who uses the internet everyday for a few hours?
Thanks for the help!
Related to MJay’s message, is it possible to simply use my own wi-fi connection and not get a data plan? I don’t need to use the internet on my phone a whole lot, but generally when I do, I’m within the range of wifi. Could I simply get the Shadow and skip the data plan altogether?
This looks like a big disappointment already, if you already own a shadow.
UPGRADES
UMA, (260MHZ CPU vs 201MHZ Shadow 1), and windows 6.1
Im guessing over half of T-Mo customer dont use UMA, but a nice feature regardless and thats pretty much it. If you have a little tech savy you can put win6.1 on the current shadow and 260 vs 201 CPU will not be that much difference since the phone has the same exact ROM/RAM as Shadow I.
All of T-Mo competitors are using 400 or 528 Mhz CPU in similar non touch phones now. Shadow 2 has the same okay 2MP camera and same SLOW usb1.1 port, so if you bought the shadow when it first came out, you will wait 15 months for pretty much the same exact phone with very minor upgrades.
Theres no reason T-Mobile should not have tried to use the Touch Dual hardware since it is very similar to the Shadow design wise.
So way to go T-Mo with your continued efforts of mediocre and crippled phones. I wont even start on the G1, upcoming Dash 2, or Wing 2 whenever it actually does come out.
