i like the phone so far is pretty cool i went to tmobile and saw the phone and is good is nt AWSOME but is good the only thing tht i dont like it tht u can only play videos on youtube i would like to have the full web browser capabilty with a flash to watch videos on any website, right now i have my shadow and i like it so far is my first smartphne and my second i love it with the skyfire brwser im thinking of getting the G1 but nt 2 sure. i wonder which one would be better the IPHONE or the G1.

I checked out the phone last night at the t-mo store. Its nice but im not all that impressed. Not able to sync with a pc, no gps, no flash or embedded video capabilities in the web browser. What I would like to see is a shadow with touch screen and 3G capability. I need the MS Office package on my shadow and use almost all of the other features. Basically it seemed to me that the G1 is just a sidekick with 3G and a touch screen. Not a bad phone though, just doesnt meet my needs.

Umm the g1 has gps.

Nice review of the basic software, will some of the applications from the shadow work on the G1 or are there new (possibly better) versions of the software on the internet?

outcast, you’re concern is a little similar to mine. my G1 is coming some time next week (i think wed). i’m just afraid it’s going to be a glorified sidekick since it lacks a lot of the wm functionality i usually need on a smartphone.
anyone heard of any apps that lets you play video (something similar to tcmp on the shadow)? and whats going to happen to all the nes roms on my shadow? someone please develop a new nes emulator for the G1!! haha.

You people crack me up. First of all it has a gps. And a glorified SIDEKICK? are you kidding me. To compare this phone to the Sidekick simply because they both have a screen that slide up is moronic! If your worried about microsoft exchange there will be (if there isn’t one already) an app. on android market for it. Not to mention there will be plenty of apps. that let you play video, there is one Beta version of one such app. on the market now! Glorified Sidekick that just cracks me up. Do some research about this phone man!

Menzo44, why so angry? just expressing a little concern, that’s all.

realmadrider. I understand where your coming from with the concerns of the G1. I was and still kinda feeling the way you are, but now with having one in hand and playing around with it, you start to warm up to it. The user friendliness, very cool apps and the 3Geeeee…. makes it worth it alone for me, especially for $179.00. You have to remember the G1 has only been out for 4 days. They will have this phone the way we want it before you know it.

The biggest downside of this phone so far is the inability to install apps on the SD card.. If this issue is addressed soon it could be a deal breaker for many people. Including me.
