How to Destroy Your Shadow
Bipinsen sparked this off with his thread on How To Disassemble Your Shadow, which is very informative, and should only be done if your warranty is void, T-Mobile won’t replace it, and no one wants to buy it from you. Which got me to thinking how many ways have the dear Members of the AllShadow.com community destroyed their Shadows? The most famous way is dropping it in the toilet.
I’ve had my own experiences with attempted Shadow destruction, but despite my best efforts it’s a resilient little bugger. One thing that had me slapping myself was a cracked battery cover that I applied super glue to fix. I put the cover on to soon and ended up super-gluing the cover on. I destroyed most of the back of the phone getting it off. More recently I took a swim across a lake with all my gear, and Shadow, in a supposedly waterproof bag. When I got to the other side the Shadow was vibrating furiously and water was just pouring out of it. I immediately removed the battery and let it dry for a few days without attempting to turn it on. Good as new.
How have you destroyed your Shadow? What beating has it taken? Should we ask BlendTec to see if the Shadow will blend? How about the G1?

Glad my pain can be of *some* help to someone. Even if one Shadow is saved as a result, I will think it worth the effort to put this together.
I wish I had read the rice bag method of drying out the Shadow. It *might* have saved the phone. But as I found later, my LCD was completely shorted out. So again, it might not have. Bottom line, if your phone drops in water, follow the second link. If you need to replace the LCD, or fix the slider, use my guide.
I’ve still not been able to find a replacement Shadow for changing out my shorted home and volume keys. One day I may be back in Shadowland. :-\
@Bipin Sen:
My Shadow may be available to you soon IF I decide on keeping my G1 upon arrival at the end of the month.
@OrganizedFellow: Thanks for the offer, though I’m not sure how much you’ll want for it. Being a middle income provider for a family of four doesn’t leave much room to play around with electronic toys… ![]()
to whoever wrote this article, you are not a good owner, lol, ki would never do that to my phone
I’ve only dropped mine twice in almost a year other than that is just like new!!
i was out fishing with my son last week off of a boat dock. pulled my shadow out of my pocket to answer it. dropped it onto the dock, but it bounced into the water. jumped in after it 4 times, but the water was too deep and i couldn’t get to it. freezing cold water too (northeast). waiting to order the shadow 2 later this week.
I left mine in my front pocket of my pants as I leaned into my trunk to grab the groceries and crushed my screen. luckily I had the insurance. Same thing that happened to samsung slider, think I would have learned my lesson.
i had the misfortune of spilling God’s sweet nectar (coffee) on my shadow .. thus i have taken a new liking to the G1 (coming tomorrow) .. it was quite a terrible mishap actually .. just one little splash in the wrong direction and POOF! no more voice calls .. the phone is still fully functional (minus that tricky thing about actually hearing people from who you get calls) .. so i have been using it solely for data functions such as google maps / directions .. God bless android for coming up with a decent replacement
Doesn’t have nothing to do with the topic… but i wanted 2 ask… do we have a program close to shazam… and free?
