Use the G1 Right Now

This is really cool - T-Mobile has put up an emulator of the G1 that lets you get into all of the screen of the operating system and get a feel for how the device will operate. Some of the screens aren’t functional, but most of them are.

Try messing around with the “window shade” that you pull down from any program. Also, try moving around desktop icons by doing a tap and hold, and slide them to one of the three desktop screens. Finally, use the “menu” button near the keyboard to draw up contextual menus in differerent screens.

So - what do you think? Some think Android seems unpolished so far, while others argue against that and think that it has a ton of potential, being an open operating system. What do you think?

this can go either very right or very wrong the open sourse has so much potential but its a matter of programers making applications for the phone. also there is the risk of hackin into the phone an causing all sorts of issues. either way im stayin hopefull and look at the bright side i think the phone in the near future will live up to the hype and more so stay tune an see how well it outshines other more asteticly pleasing phones.

Yes - we never said that this was late-breaking information, but rather something of interest for those that don’t read Engadget and/or Gizmodo on a regular basis like you probably do =D.

Wow… hissy fit. Since no one is talking about anything important, I will take this time to tell everyone that I made my T-Mobile Shadow famous at the Gizmodo Chicago meet up a few weeks ago. http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/chicagoparty/1003780534
That’s my shadow with SMB3 playing on it, all thanks to AllShadow.com.
That’s it. So, yeah. Continue your catfight, I guess.

Question: will we be able to use a word program on android? We do alot of updating of documents on the go, which was why we loved the windows mobile phones.
