Poll: How Often Do You Drop Your Shadow?
A little poll to kick off your weekend.
Fortunately for those of that are rough with their phones, the electronics inside of the Shadow are so tightly packed that it can withstand a lot of abuse without parts rattling around inside, thus causing it to malfunction. On the other hand, the result of multiple drops and abuse may be a Shadow that looks like it has been chewed by your rottweiler…full of scars and bruises. So…how often do you drop your phone? And…for those of you who have an almost scratch-free Shadow, what tips can you offer the rest of us to keep it lookin’ pretty?
P.S. Did you drop your Shadow in the water (read: toilet)? See this post.

I’ve had my Shadow for about 22 or 23 days. So far it is spotless. I’ve been planning on returning it before I’m locked in to my contract, so for now I keep it in my left pocket and make sure to keep NO coins, NO keys, nothing else that is sharp or abrasive in the pocket that would scratch it or damage it.

My friend saw that I had a Shadow and said, “Oh man, I used to have one of those! It was the most durable phone ever! I mean I threw that thing out of a car once, the two pieces came apart, but I duct-taped it back together and even though it didn’t slide anymore, it still worked!” Said she gave it to her friend after that lol.
But yeah. My Shadow has hit the ground a few times. Most of the hits though were after I got the black plastic snap on case for it from Amazon, and the screen protector.
Before I had that stuff though, it was either in the case it came with or in my hand being used. I never let it just sit out in the open.
And it never goes in the pocket with anything else in it. I learned that lesson from MP3 players with nice scratches on them from keys.

I have dropped mine like twice and it never had a problem from dropping. Although when I slided it open a couple weeks ago, I heard a pop and the spring broke. It was really sad since it was only 6 months old. I did call T-mob and they claimed that I was sliding it up and down all day long. I told them my last Samsung slider phone NEVER broke and I had it for two years. They made me go into the store and “show” them that I did not abuse the phone. They did give me a refurbished phone that was not in the best condition as a replacement. Also, I did not like the fact that they could even say they were going to charge me for something that was clearly faulty manufacturing. I love the phone but doubt the quality of the spring and the longevity of the device.

NEVER have dropped mine.
Of the 5 comments above, it seems that Barbie the Nurse and I are very careful.
Heck, I’m not really THAT careful with it. It just never happens.
I’ve had it for almost 6 months now!
Possibly selling it after I get my new T-Mobile G1!

I am SUPER careful with my shadow. I bought it when it first came out last year as a birthday present, and its now going on its one year mark and I have dropped it about 5 times, and none caused any damaged since I dropped it in the car or on carpet. But I have mine super protected, just as you would take care of a baby, lol! I have a screen protector, which I change often ( I buy the 3 packs from ebay) and a full screen protector that so far has lasted 7 months. I also have a pink rubberized case from amazon on it so it can take the fall instead of the phone itself. Oh wow, I think I do have OCD after all….

i actualy forgot i left my phone in the inside pocket of my jacket and washed my shadow with the laundry, tide and all, so i took the battery out and let it sit for two days and it works fine.
i’ve also droped mine over 5 times, possibly more than ten, as i take the los angeles bus often and i usually have my stereo headset that came with it in my ear, so there are plenty of chance for it to fall.
but it survives all, yet my screen is scratched to hell but its backlit so that only hurts in the sun lol.
i am a satisfied customer though.

I found my shadow and I’ve almost never dropped it, maybe once or twice, on concrete, I have a lint free screen cloth for it, cause its a fingerprint magnet, and a very secure case for it (the case clips to my belt and has a snapstrap to secure the clip to the belt). HTC makes great phones period cause my boy has a HTC touch and dropped it from two stories on to some glass, believe it or not, the phone broke the glass! We both flew down stairs to find his touch still working with only paint chipped off of it, juss a lil speck. My shadow has triumphed over the wonders of electronics most deadly foe, water. I can’t count how many times my shadow has been on the sink, me wash my hands and forget that its there, and drip all over it. One time, I was in the kitchen, and a friend of the family was filling up a two liter with water, and me not watching it, I had my shadows slide open, faced toward the sink and the sink splashed a pound of water on me, and my phone. I was drenched in seconds. My phone on the other hand, was wet like the stomach of a swimsuit model. so I simply shook off the water on the phone and changed my shirt. It still works perfect. So if you want a ride or die phone, an htc is the brand to get!

I’m very good about not dropping expensive electronics, but one day I got out my car and dropped my shadow on the parking lot
. aside from some minor scratches and a couple small craters in the center button, I have a star shaped crack near the top left of my outer screen. looks like a pebble hit it at 60 mph, lol, but aside from that there’s no problems.

I had my shadow for about 5 months and I dropped mines a lot but it’s been the best phone ive ever had. I have a miner crack on the top part of my shadow but it’s not by my lcd screen and I have insurance but I don’t want to do a claim but I like the phones durability and allshadow.com has the software to pimp my phone. keep it going. go shadow

my friend has a sidekick and is very clumsy so he tied it to one of those pen retrackers that you find at office depot and attaches it to his belt so when he drops it it doesn’t hit the ground and VERY SLOWLY since its heavy comes back to him

My shadow’s only been dropped occasionally. Other than that it hangs out in my case. This is my second shadow. The first one crashed my pc during an active sync with outlook and wouldn’t come back on. Gotta love windows mobile!!

I drop mine about once a week and it still looks spotless… That was until the end of my cigarette fell off and landed on the phone just above “wheel”. Now it’s got a fairly minor burn but honestly this is probably the most durable smartphone I’ve ever used.
