Get an Extended Battery from T-Mobile
Edit: The Shadow will fit in the case with BOTH of the Extended Batteries.
First off, if you haven’t bought a Shadow yet make sure you get one in the White Packaging. It has two batteries in it. The standard OEM battery that everyone else has and the new Extended OEM battery.
Okay now for more battery goodness… Starting on Monday, T-Mobile customers can call into Customer Care and order a new Extended Battery (thanks tmonews.com). Supposedly it’s free of charge, which would be a gesture towards customers.
Here is the battery lineup. Starting at the left we have the standard OEM battery with 920mah. In the middle, the new Extended OEM battery from HTC, with a much healthier 1350mah. On the right weighing in at a hefty 2200mah is our BoxWave Electraspan battery we did a full review on. If you want a full 2200mah of power for nearly 3 times the useage then you can order the BoxWave Electraspan here.Keep reading for more Shadow battery pictures and comparisons.
Here is a height comparison with the Standard on the left, the New Extended in the Middle and the BoxWave on the right.
These are the battery covers, respectfully.
The Shadow with the original battery.

my god, it’s horrid. but i’m getting it anyway cause it’s free. lol
as usual, Allshadow has the best info. as a customer service rep for tmo, I can verify this is correct. the one bad thing? tmo employees cannot get it yet! wah! it does come with a back cover so that is good news and provides approximately fifty percent more life. I look forward to getting your calls on monday!
Hey I was gonna get it cuz it’s free but for this website I always look at the product before I get it so i looked and I would get it but that is stupid because one reason I got this phone is because it’s so slim and cool lookin but with those batteries in it, it makes the phone look ugly and fat. If they could make a battery like that without it being so fat I would buy it no matter what the price as long as it’s under $50, but those batteries just make the phone look ugly. And besides with those batteries in the phone it would probly make the phone not able to fit in the standard case and I use the case everyday like all day and those are the only reasons I wouldn’t get them. I am really mad because I really wanted the batteries but now I don’t because it’s just too ugly!
Thanks for the tip for the FREE battery. I’ll call on Monday. This upgrade to solve battery life is making the iPhone-3G look a lot better… Lets see Apple speeded up the iPhone and kept the slim shape. So far not a lot of iPhone3G users complaining that their speedy iPhones are dying fast…
Did Tmobile forget the FORM & function are IN-fashion??? Have that many Shadow users been complaining to Tmo for them to create the 3rd version of a hefty battery for the Shadow? If I use this battery on my mobile, my friends are going to say WTF is that??!! This will be my in-the-closet battery…
the new extended battery looks good, its just slightly bigger but it’s not a big deal, while the boxwave battery makes my shadow look like it has a tumor haha
That sounds great! But does it get shipped to you? Is the shipping free?
ShadowFan2008 stated:
“I use this battery on my mobile, my friends are going to say WTF is that??!!”
What is this, high school? To think about and make choices based on what your friends will think or say. Too funny. Maybe I’m just too old.
thanks shadow mike as for the shipping the shipping will be free for the 7 day delivery for the 3 day one it would cost 15 dollars
so what your saying that since I already have the shadow I get the battery for free? or is that just for people who up grade now to the shadow? im confused!
its an upgrade for the battery of the shadow you don’t have to buy the shadow again just to get the new battery. that would be stupid.
i understand that its an upgraded battery! and I know you don’t have to re buy the shadow! my question was how do I obtain this new battery? or is it only available free to persons who up grade to the shadow now? if so, how much is it to existing shadow owners?
all you have to do is call tmobile on monday and tell them you want the battery and you have the shadow and they will ship it to you.
k thanks thats answer I was looking for
I already use the extended battery by HTC and it works great! I got it in advance of the public through a promo with HTC and I am finally able to use my Shadow all day without a recharge. Best part is, it fits in the OEM case with no problem!
Cheers!
does it have to be monday, or can you call then on tuesday or any other weekday?
You can start calling them on Monday. I’m sure it’s safe to say the battery will be available for the foreseeable future.
It’s finally Monday, has anyone called yet?
I was just on the phone with T mobile, they cannot place the order as of yet but they are in stock and will be free. The service rep was very surprised that anyone knew about it being available. She mentioned something about a text message going out to shadow owners.
I just got off the phone with TMo. According to them the replacement battery isnt in the system yet. I have to call back again in an hour or so to check on it. Course this was what I was told after being transferred to 5 different people…. If you do call them, when asked where you want to go, tell them “PDA”.
I called them up and like the above comments, they told me the form wasn’t fully worked out to send the battery from PDA support. However, they worked out a solution and sent me to accessories, put a temp charge on my account for the battery+shipping and PDA support will credit it after. I should get the battery soon.
Normally it is a risk to allow cell phone companies to put temporary charges on your account, but I’ve done this with T-Mobile before and they always credit me.
my suggestion, however, is to wait a day so you can avoid this little hassle.
I called as well and they seemed to be slightly lost with the whole situation. They are giving me a call back later when they get the form up and running. I think it is best if people wait a couple of days so they can work things out. I wish t-mobile would have worked it all out before offering this though, but, if it is as good as they say it is the wait may be worth it.
I called Tmobile and they seemed to be lost with the whole battery situation. They are giving me a call back later also;
As of this morning, the T-Mobile order entry database was not connected to the Customer Service Dept. (so they said), so they were not able to send out my new battery yet. T-Mobile requested that I call back later to place my order for the new replacement battery. We’ll see!
I just called T-Mobile and they said that customer care would be able to start issuing the batteries (and back covers) at 5pm EST/2pm PST. The lady was real polite and when she couldn’t find it in the system she called her supervisor and was told they would be in the system by 5pm EST/2pm PST. So everyone just wait and call later this afternoon.
Called Customer Care at 9am and they said it was not in the system yet. They just called me back at 10am and told me my extended battery will be here before the end of the week.
I just got off the phone with Sarah in Customer Care. She was extremely helpful and said that my new free battery and back cover will be here no later than August 6th.
Just called. they told me since I bought the phone in November of 07 and the existing battery has only a 3 month warranty, I dont qualify for a new battery. They would not provide me a free battery and told me I had to pay for it.
I have t-mobile pre-paid and i’m getting dicked around. They said they’ll credit my account if I buy it from HTC, but HTC doesnt have it?? :S
I bought my phone right after they first came out. And my battery doesn’t qualify for the warranty either.
But I just got vm from Jessica in customer service saying my battery was being shipped UPS ground.
Sowe will see what happens.
Just got off the phone with t-mobile. I got the run around and was told that since I got my phone in November I was not eligable, but that I could call HTC. So I was transferred to HTC and they told me I had to front $30 then they would send me a new original battery and I would have to send them my old one back. They have nothing to do with the T-mobile and sending the free battery. So, I called T-mobile back ready to own somebody cause this has cost me almost an hour in wait times…..So a very polite Amanda gets on the phone and tells me that T-mobile has just decided to extend the offer to those that bought thier phones when they just came out, covering the warranty for a full 12 months instead of 3. SOOO, I have a new battery coming my way. I highly suggest every shadow owner calls, I am very happy with the way I was just treated.
Just wanted to follow up. Recieved a call back from T mobile to confirm my battery was ordered and should arrive in 5 to 7 business days.
Just call tmobile and ask for customer service and tell them that u were informed that they are giving free extended batteries for the tmobile shadow. I had no problems and they even let u keep ur old slim battery so there is no risk in calling them. Shipping is free, no extending of commitment, and no charge what so ever. Took me less than 7 minutes.
Just got off the phone with TMo. They are shipping me the battery with shipping free of charge as well. But, I was told that I will need to ship them back the original battery. Instructions will be in the shipped package. Did anyone else get that?
@John
I think u r still in the 3 month warranty and they r just sending u a regular replacement battery. U need the tell the guy that u heard about tmobile sending out free extended batteries so they could inquire and find out. Since the deal just started today, most people at customer service do not know about it. My guy did not until i told him. Just call again.
just got off the phone with Tmo, and the guy started talking about how they will need to troubleshoot the phone before they can send me a new battery. I would have had no problem with this except that i can’t a personal phone where i work. anyone else get the troubleshooting response?
I just got off the phone with Tmobile,
and in less than 5 minutes the representative
sent me my new battery. he said nothing about
sending the old one back! hooray! one step further
for the Shadow community!
i got the troubleshooting thing too because the lady i talked to didnt understand what i was asking her for. When i retold her what i wanted she said they would call me back. I called them back about 30 minutes ago and they told me the order was already placed and it was on its way. I asked if i would have to send back my original battery and they said that it wasnt necessary and there would also be free shipping.
I called T Mobile today and they were very professional about the whole thing. i was on the phone for 10 minutes and i should have my battery and door in 7 working days.
damn it! I can’t get it today cause my wife is at work and she’s the authorized account holder and t mo won’t send it unless my wife activates me as a authorized user or if she calls and requests the battery!
Thanks for the info I just called my new battery is on the way, and no they didnt ask to trouble shoot. I say call again untill u get what you want good looking out All Shadow.
did anyone else get asked about the serial number on the back on the phone where the battery is cause this is getting annoying? they told me to call back when I have another line available for them to call me back!
dude! i just called and they are sending my battery! woot!
i dunno about some of you needing to send back ur old batteries.. but i suggest you call back and let them know that they are mistaken about that. who wouldnt want two batteries!?
thanks shadow mike! this website rules!
Yupp, I went ahead and called them.
Went to the Handset accessories department.
Told them I would like the extended battery for the Shadow.
and the lady said it’ll be here in 7 days.
Pretty simple.
did you all call on your current handsets or did you all have to call them back with the info on the back of the phone?
Just a heads up to all sage shadow users, the cover for the extended battery is only in copper. I was a bit disappointed as I own a sage, but I figure its just the battery cover so I can live (considering its free, and T-Mobile didn’t have to do this! Also got a new shadow on its way to me, but thats a different story….
What number are the successful people calling?
877-453-1304, say english, the phone number of ur shadow, the last 4 digits of the primary account’s social security, and ask to go to customer service. (the order might be messed up)
i just called they had no idea what i was talking about. they told me there isn’t even an extended battery out for the shadow!
Just called for the 3rd timee and i guess the third times the charm got it ordered should arrive in between five-seven days;
just called, the lady said i was the first her office encountered knowing about the free battery and she got me through it right away and said it should arrive in 5-7 days for free!
finally I got through and wasn’t asked about any info about my phone and im expecting it another 7 days
nice! its should be here by the 6th!
gotta call that 877 number! the first time i called 611 and they were lost!
I just called and the rep didn’t seem to have knowledge about the new extended battery but after he went and asked someone, he was put up to speed. I was told I should get the new battery by the end of the week, Aug. 1st. Also, the rep told me that I needed to do a software upgrade for the phone to recognize the new battery. He told me to go to http://www.t-mobileshadow.com to get it done but I was just there and it’s the same ol update they gave out a long time ago so i’m assuming no update should be needed for the extended battery. I’ve always been happy with tmobile’s customer support and the rep. i spoke to was very nice and helpful. Can’t wait to get that new battery in.
@Robert..
are you sure?
Cause the lady said I’m getting the sage battery cover.
Thanks for the tip. I just got off the phone with an agent from the PDA support division who processes my order for the free battery with free shipping. I already enjoy my Shadow quite a bit, I look forward to finally getting a full day’s use out of it without a recharge or battery swap somewhere in the middle.
called this morning and got the same story as above cnoncerning calling back or that they would place the order for me wed and text when the order was complete.
in fear of having to have the battery back ordered i called again this evening. This rep stated the battery does not come with the cover and that it was not an extended life battery.
Called the above 877 number and said customer service for the recording. Ended up in the PDA department, got a helpful rep that read from a prepared statement about the free extended battery. The have both sage and copper and for free it will come ups ground 5-7 business days. Thank you allshadow.com!!
I was on the phone for about 12 minutes, at first with the PDA technical issues in Houston Texas; then I was transferred to Customer Care in Lubbock Texas I believe.
The PDA Dept had no idea about the battery and was ready & willing to send me a replacement STANDARD battery after checking my warranty status.
Customer Care didn’t know what I was talking about either, I even directed them here! She looked through her “morning announcements,” and sure enough! There it was along with instructions on how to do it!
The battery is not that much bigger. It will keep me from having to plug my phone in at work and it is free. Yes even the shipping is free.
I was told I was getting a sage cover also
Just got off the phone with t-mo and they tried to troubleshoot my phone. i told them that i already went through that when i 1st got my phone. they skipped right to ordering my battery should have it in 7 days or so
Mine is in the mail, I used the 877 number. The only non-standard script I encountered was the guy asked me to read the model # off the battery, he said as long as it started with “K” it was good to get the extended one. I asked about sage/copper and he checked and said I would be receiving a sage one to match my phone.
FYI I ordered mine today. It will be coming in the mail in 3-5 buisness days. I am stoked.
I just got off the phone with Tmobile and they are sending a new battery to me free of charge and I keep the old battery
I just called them up and will be awaiting their call back tomorrow. I told him that I read about the free replacement battery online, and he followed up saying that he did see some news about it. He looked around and found the info, and read it to me. Then he put me on hold while he tried to figure out how to order it, but it still was not in the system yet.
He did ask if I was having any issues with it, and I simply said that I have had the battery warning pop up around 9pm a few times. It all depends on how much I use it each day. Often times I will browse the internet on it for 10-15 minutes while on lunch, and its set to receive email every 10 minutes as well. Most of the time I don’t use my phone to much, but I still have to make sure I charge it every night before I go to bed.
I called at yesterday at around 2:40 PM EST…
(Make sure you ask to speak with T-Mobile Shadow Customer Care)
They tried giving me the workaround…asking me when I got the phone, how long I had problems…
I told them I was told that T-Mobile is giving away the Extended free for existing Shadow users…
They told me they wanted to make sure I didn’t have the extended already…I argued with them that no I had the 920 mAh and I wanted the new extended…
They finally decided to send me it…
I had to go through the agreement that states I have to send in the old battery, but the Rep told me I can ignore that part, I don’t have to send in the old battery.
Shipping is free for UPS Ground…(5-7 business days)
about $15 for express (billed to your account)
Just tell them you heard you were entitled - do not settle for a no…you have your right!
Was anyone told about ups tracking ? supposively its your mobile number w/the dashes
just got off the phone with TMo: initially, she didn’t understand and began troubleshooting as if my battery had a problem, then i explained what i read on this site and that the Samsung Blackjack had the same issue and if AT&T solved the problem with a free battery, i was sure that TMo would certainly out do them by providing an free extended battery. She put me on hold for 2mins and when she came back, she told me i should be receiving the extended battery in 7days at no cost. Thanks, Allshadow!
I can’t believe I’m stuck with T-Mobile for another 18 months thanks to this stupid phone. I’ve never had this many problems with a phone, and I’ve never had this kind of consistently bad treatment from a wireless carrier.
I just got hung up on twice (accidentally) by people trying to figure out this free battery situation. I was eventually told by the PDA dept that my phone is more than 3 months old, so I don’t qualify. I was forwarded to HTC and told the same: “Front $30 + s&h and we’ll refund it” nonsense.
What is going on over at T-Mobile that everyone who calls gets a different answer?
had to call twice, called the 877 number posted above the second time. dont say you are having battery issues. you just heard that they are sending out replacement batteries that are bigger than the original for free. if they say you are not eligible, call back again.
Just called 611 from my shadow and had no problems at all…they ordered it right there and its on its way!!!
How soon before the extended rubberized covers come out? I like the nice clean black look to it.
just called. they ran out of batteries but they should have some later today after 5pm. I spoke to a rep who said that she would text the order confirmation by the end of the day today or tomorrow morning the latest.
I called back today and got a much friendlier rep. that spoke better english and said my copper cover is being sent, and a sage is now on its way too. I have to send the copper battery back when I get it (return to sender). I am also getting a new Sage Shadow to fix some other problems I have been having. This whole thing has renewed my faith in T-Mobile. My parents had MotoQs with Alltel and had more problems than I have had and couldn’t get any help from Alltel. At least T-Mobile cares!!!
Yea, I don’t understand why some people are having issues. I called yesterday from my handset and granted I got transferred three times but, I then knew I was in the right spot and the rep I spoke to was honest and said “you are the first one of these I have had to do” but she got everything squared away and it’s being shipped. I swear, I have never had a problem with T-Mobile.
so far the girl that im talking too at the 877# seems clueless, shes got me on hold…..got my fingers crossed!…….
ok, so the first girl was clueless, gave me jacked up advice…the second guy that im talking too is just as clueless, i dont know what the deal is, i ask to talk to shadow support and they give me pda, i ask again and they seem to think they have all the answers. This is irritating the heck outta me. Gonna call again if this is a bust.
[...] with the phone seems to be battery life… but then there’s this post on AllShadow.com: Get an Extended Battery from T-Mobile. I recieved the phones Friday, and didn’t get the new batteries, so I guess I need to call [...]
HAHAHHAHAHA I GOT MINE ORDERED DONW……THEY WERE CLUELESS ABOUT THIS YESTERDAY JUST CALL NOW…..WHOOO HOOO!
I ordered mine on mon. it is coming free of charge
I’m not sure if it helps anyone, but if your rep doesn’t know where/how to order it - mention that it’s ordered through the ‘upgrade’ screen.
I’m afraid I didn’t read through all the thread above to see if anyone else mentioned this but I just got off the phone and wanted to share the information.
Good luck (mine’s on the way!)
I just called the rep said I got bad information
and basically called me an Idiot.
Just called back to pda dept and I ordered it no problem sweeeeeet!
i called today and they told me my battery had run out of warranty… so i couldnt get one and she said that now i had to pay for one if i wanted one
dude, call pda dept and say you want a free extended battery.Dont even tell them your battery ran out.I bought my phone in november.Do what I told you.You wont regret it.
Thanks to your story about the batteries. I just gotten off the phone with t mobile. And they did say that I was wrong, but after they put me through 4 people. The lady said that there is one new battery for the shadow. And she is shipping it out for me. I should have it with 5-7 days. Free shipping with ups. Thanks for the info.
It was a no go for me. This morning lady said it was good to go but they needed my other phone info before they could process the order. This evening the “K” model battery was not covered for the replacement. After talking to 3 diffeent people and wasting 40 mins I gave up.
I called “611″ this morning lady called me back on my land line so we can look at the battery model. In the evening I called 877 number. NO LUCK.
i just got off the phone with tmobile and they said it the battery was just for people upgrading to the shadow not for exsiting owners of it
I called 3 times, the 3rd time the rep knew what I was talking about, the other two had no clue and tried to dump me onto htc. I asked the rep who did know how have us tell these misinformed reps where to go, he told me to tell you guys to tell the rep that they need to look in their employee updates page, and he said this battery exchange falls under the “customer initiated handset upgrade’ catigory. hope this helps someone out
Did anyone get a confirmation text? This is what I got:
“Free T-Mobile Msg:Thanks for upgrading T-Mobile number XXXXXXXXXX. Your account will be charged $0. Please dial 611 if you did not place this order.”
Called the 877 number, the girl knew about it, looked it up, then she placed the order for me. If you haven’t called, do it! It’s free!! New battery should be here within a few days!!
AQ and cory10,
Try calling them again to the 877 number and tell them that you were calling in regards to the extended battery for the T-Mobile Shadow, that you read about it online. They should know what you are talking about, if not, they should be able to look it up. It might take them a few minutes to find it, but they know about it. And NO, it’s not just for people who are upgrading.
I called earlier today and the customer rep tried to transfer me to htc, can anyone please shed some light on this “issue”, should I be getting the battery from t-mobile or htc? I received my phone in january of this year, any help will be appreciated. thanks!
Thanks clag8. I will try again tommorow.
I already ordered that battery at 10.00 CET and expecting it up to 7 buss days from today. But i called earlier today around noon a rep was just surprised what iam talking about and said they dont have something like that. So try again and again until you speak to somebody who knows what is going on in his company.
… and definitely you have to speak to technician from T-Mobile customer care, not HTC
got my battery ordered, thanks allshadow any everyone for the “hoops” info, thankfully the 3rd rep I talked to actually knew what they were talking about!
got mine ordered. had to call twice. called the PDA support first, chick had no clue. she asked where I got the info about the extended battery and I told her and she looked up allshadow.com while I was on the phone! LOL!! called back, called the 877 number posted above the chick then transferred me over to PDA support and the guy did some troubleshooting (asked me for the model no on my battery) and said he would send it out and I should get it within 7 business days.
FWIW my wife, the primary account holder/bill payer got a text msg as described above “thanks for upgrading you will be charged $0…”
So check with who ever the bill comes to in your house.
Use mobile number as reference number and enter country and zip code to track the shipment…
917-555-5555…as reference number NOT tracking…
Just to reiterate what I wrote previously for those still struggling to get T-Mobile to cooperate:
——————————————–
——————————————–
By the way - I made the request on 7/28 for ground shipping and per UPS I should be getting it on 7/31 (3 business days)…I recommend the free shipping option and not express.
I just got off the phone with t-mobile. This website is so awesome. It took a while and I had to be pretty insistant but she finally found out what I was talikng about. Its being shipped right now. I was almost ready to buy a new phone and then I found all the cool stuff you can do with the shadow on this website. Especially the NES emulator and the Vtap Videos
okay, it looks like most of you are getting your batteries. this is good. a few pointers from customer service: the reference number to track your package at ups.com is your phone number with dashes. click on tracking tab, then track by reference number. this is true for all orders that tmo sends out by ups. the mention of the free battery for shadow users (if you need to direct your csr) is on STREAMLINE, front page, under equipment news. if they cannot find that, direct them to the CIHU (customer initiated handset upgrade) form. it’s the third option on the form after they put in your phone number and click on the next two radio buttons. do not allow the csr to do troubleshooting as this is unnecessary and a waste of your time, their time and company time. you’ll know if they are attempting to do troubleshooting because they will want to get you off of your shadow while talking to them and will want to call you back on another line. keep in mind that the person you get may still be in training, so be patient with them. next, the extended life battery is available to everyone, regardless of how long you have had your phone/battery. it is completely free of charge. all orders placed after this past monday for new shadows will automatically include a regular and extended life battery in the box. you are allowed to pick sage or copper for color choice. you do not need to call a special number; just call 611 or 18009378997 as normal. you do not need to ask for technical care or pda departments, as customer care can and should handle the call. in fact if you ask for pda or technical care they will try to troubleshoot your phone, as that is what they are trained to do. there is no need for them to check to see if the warranty on the battery is still good, as this is a step in replacing the existing regular life battery, not sending the extended life battery. I apologize to all of you who have had problems, and hope this inside info helps you to not be frustrated and get your new batteries sooner. oh yeah, htc is not providing this battery; if you are told you are being transferred to them then your csr is not doing their job and paying attention to their daily news updates. happy calling to you all!
did you have to purchase your shadow from t-mobile to get the free battery?
I just got of the phone I timed it and it took me 3 minutes to get it order and send , no problem no weird questions or any thing like that, seems that they know how to process this calls now, like always my experiences with t mobile are great and thats why im with them
by the way I call 611 and then ask for the pda dpt
i just called and for whatever reason the form was not working but they added a credit to my acct. and all i have to do is go to my local tmo store and pick up my ex battery (much better for me) and as far as kevin’s question, NO you dont have to have purchased you Shadow from them i bought mine from my cousin who hated it and had no issues whatsoever
so i tried again today, and to talked to a randy with the PDA Dept, and he knew exactly what i was talking about and actually had my order done before i could quit complaining about the current battery. This guy was extremely professional and helped me with no problem. Thanks for allshadow.com!!
Thanks livndeadgrl I just called tmo and was transferred to pda. Batteries for both my phones are on the way. They knew exactly what I was talking about. They did say I will have to do a software upgrade to get the most out of the battery.
How would a T-Mobile To Go (prepaid) user go about getting a battery? Every time I call I can go to account maintenance or refill my account.
Took about 20 minutes but new battery on it way. thanks guys.
okay, I have a correction or two to make: I am at work now and looked up the shadow extended life battery in STREAMLINE, and could not find it at first. the only way for a csr to find the info now is to use the news search function and look up keywords “extended life battery shadow” and it will pop up the appropriate article. they need to click on the link on the right side of the popup screen under related links and go through the steps there. they will need to get you off of your shadow if you are calling them on it, in order to check your battery type. each customer is only entitled to one free extended life battery, the software update is located at tmobileshadow.com. it is recommended that you do the upgrade again even if you have already done it before to reset the memory settings in the phone for the battery. you will need to tell the csr that the current battery that you own does not provide sufficient life before draining be aware that the csr will have to check to make sure you are currently using a shadow, and our records search is typically two to three days behind reality. so, if you are currently using a phone other than a shadow, you will need to put your sim card back in your shadow and Wait three days before calling to allow your information to appear in our system. no, you do not have to purchase your shadow from tmo in order to get the free battery. happy calling!
I have never, ever before had a problem with T.Mobile…I’ve been with them since the VoiceStream days and service has been great overall….
This was hell on earth
46 minutes, from when I called, to when I got battery for 1 of the 2 Shadows on my family plan.
Had to speak to a total of 5 reps. Usually, the Nokes-trained army of reps is top-notch, to the point where I’ll jump on anyone who dare talk poorly of t.mo support…. The first rep was great, nice, polite..etc.. the next 3 weren’t anything to write home about, but the 5th one that actually solved the problem was worse/slower/more clueless in general than any Dell agent I’ve had to speak with.
As much as I tried to politely explain, they forced me to turn the phone off, take the battery out, had me do some jumping jacks…etc. Then they asked for the IMEI to confirm that it’s under warranty… I gave that for the one I’m on but the other one is in Virginia with a family member so I didn’t have it..and they couldn’t look it up..fair enough.
After a ton of explaining and re-explaining they finally agreed to send the battery out for 1 of my Shadows…and I’ll need to call in again for the 2nd one.
I just wish they didn’t treat me like I’m trying to pull a fast one….
Yahoo!
After 2 times, I called the 3rd time.
I called them again this afternoon, told the rep to check “streamline” and she found it. For some reason she was not able to do it for me, so transfered me to PDA/Black Berry Dept. She was able to complete the order for both of my Phones.
Thanks for the help Guys and AllShadow.com
Guess I was one of the lucky ones. Was on the phone with a rep for about 10 minutes and didn’t even realize that much time went by. He did want me to call him back on another phone at first, but I told him I could see the battery model info just by taking off the cover and I gave it to him. KII0160 is what you say if/when they ask you. No imei bs, no returning the current battery (why the hell would they want this crappy thing anyway? lol) He got my battery and cover on its way with what he said would be within 7 days (my replacement shadow was sent ground and got here in like 3! I was shocked!) Now I’m just waiting on the confirmation text. I hope with this battery I can actually have fun with my phone instead of worrying if what I’m doing will kill it within the next few hours. And at least I’ll have two batteries!
*Sent from my Shadow, lol
i have a question for “trappertam” so i ordered my battery money at about 6pm est. i didn’t mention to the rep. what color my phone is, so I’m wondering since i have the sage colored phone…. what color cover am i going to receive? or should i assume that automatically I’m gonna get the sage or am i gonna have a problem with that?
****correction post**** i have a question for “trappertam” so i ordered my battery *Monday* at about 6pm est. i didn’t mention to the rep. what color my phone is, so I’m wondering since i have the sage colored phone…. what color cover am i going to receive? or should i assume that automatically I’m gonna get the sage or am i gonna have a problem with that?
they’ll most likely look at your account and see which one you have and send you the correct cover. I didn’t get asked either, but I got copper anyway.
And I forgot to thank this website. Without this article I wouldn’t have known anything about any free batteries, and I desperately needed one! Thanks!
what kind of alternate battery chargers can anyone recommend for charging any of these batteries when battery pack is not inserted in phone?
On my second try I reached the PDA support line (about 6pm CDT Wednesday), and the agent there told me that they would be sending the new batteries to ALL shadow owners automatically, without placing an order. Sounds like BS to me, but the rep seemed knowledgeable. He confirmed that I have a shadow on my account, and said I should be receiving a battery at some point. Anybody else getting that story?
FYI - for those attempting to track their shipments, while the Tmo rep and the automated line both stated that my package was sent by UPS, I had to figure out myself that it was actually sent via the US Postal Service. Not a big deal, and I’ll get it in the same amount of time, but if anyone is given a straight 20-digit tracking number, then it was most likely sent via the USPS and not UPS.
I got my free battery yesterday. w00t! Thanks AllShadow! Now my phone has more junk in da trunk. =)
Mine arrived this morning by USPS. In fact, T-Mobile sent me two batteries both a sage and copper cover. Thanks allshadow.com for the heads-up!
I see that my blog post was tracked back… nice.
Anwyay, I called monday, and got hung up on.
I called today, and almost let the Rep transfer me to “accessories” but mentioned that I didn’t want to buy one, and that she should look in “Streamline”.
She found it, but said that since I needed to be a customer for 30 days in order to get the battery.
WTF? I might not keep this phone for the 20 days — since they bothered to send me the phone with the old battery, and I *just* got it. Grr…
thanks allshadow.com this was an excellent tip. I called and in less than 6 minutes my new extended battery was ordered! thanks again
Cheers for this. I guess my plastic hard case wont work anymore..
i just got my extended battery today!!
haven’t tried it out yet but one good thing its not as big as i was expecting!! =D
I called today and got it ordered!! Called the 1-800-937-8997 customer support line, when the prompt asks “What can I help you with today?” Say “PDA Support” and you’ll get directed RIGHT to the people. It took 10 minutes because the lady’s computer was running really slow and couldn’t pull up my phone history. But the order went through without a problem
My battery arrived today and it’s charging right now. I can’t wait to use it.
I tried tracking my package by giving my phone # (with hyphen) is ups track by reference and it doesnt show anything. anyone else having this issue?
the phone number with hyphens is the order number not the trackin number..
and my came today in the mail. usps
no ups like they said!
okay folks, here we go: when the csr looks up your information in the system, they should be able to see what color phone you have, so it should not be an issue to get the right color cover. when you call in, you should not get transferred to any department at all, especially accessories. the csr who wants to transfer you is unaware of the situation and how to order the battery. please inform them of the streamline steps. next, as for prepaid I dont have a clue how that would be handled because I handle postpaid accounts, I’m so sorry. third, the person who was referred to the store, I am sorry to say I dont think you are going to get your battery and cover, because I dont think the stores have them in stock. again, I apologize. I could be wrong, but the only method of getting them to customers mentioned in the online resources is thru customer care sending them from the national warehouse. it is entirely possible that we are now sending them via usps instead of ups now. we typically do ship batteries that way. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR “PDA”. as I explained before, that department is trained in troubleshooting. the proper department is just plain customer service. we are trained in doing the orders. for the person who was told you had to be a customer thirty days, I apologize, that csr should have gone to a supervisor to get an override on the order to get the battery to you. please call back and try again. Mistershhh, please call back also and get the csr to order the battery for you as there is nothing in our online resources to indicate we are sending this battery out to everyone automatically. I would hate to see you wait for a battery that is not going to come. Pavan, it makes me really sad that you went thru an experience like that. my best guess is that you got someone in training to explain your difficulties. unfortunately, we all have to start somewhere. definitely make sure you get the battery for the other phone as well. persistence pays. they should not need you to provide the IMEI for the other phone. the number is in the system already, and all they have to do is look in the profile tab of your account for that phone line and its at the bottom of the screen. I think that about covers all the things that have happened since my last post, so enjoy your new batteries, everyone. happy surfing!
i just got off the phone with a certain rep Sean and right away he placed the order with my new extended battery.
On my 3rd try finally bingo but a neighbor who I told about the battery said she was told that since she has flex-pay acct. she is not eligible…could this be true?
So does anyone have any experience with the battery yet? I am anxious to see how well it lasts! I mean I am pretty excited to get away from the wall outlet for a bit. Maybe use my phone outside. Just kidding, I love the shadow and wanted to know if anyone has any feedback on the extended battery.
I just got my new battery.
It is the 1350mah, NOT the 2200…
It is in my phone and working now. The hump doesnt allow you to stand up your phone at all….
I just got my extended battery today. And it did not come ups, but it came usps. I am trying out the battery right now and see how great it is about the time that you use the phone until you need to charge again. I hope that it will boast up the use time on this phone. I love the phone. Thanks to this story!!! I wil update everyone tomorrow about the battery.
Just got mine in the mail. Some kind of way i got 2 batteries (whoo hoo) and both the sage and copper covers. I was already charging my old battery. I took out the old one and popped in the new one and my battery meter read 60%. This is awesome. Now I got 3 batteries. My phone will never be charging again
Mine came yesterday morning with about a 55% charge to it so i put it in and used it the rest of the day thinking i would run it all the way down before i charged it. Well 10 hours later and 2 movies later it still has 24%. This battery seems to work great and I can’t thank the guys at Allshadow and tmonews enough for all the great tips and hacks for this phone!!
I called Wednesday, they sent TWO batteries and two covers, free shipping, arrived Friday! AWESOME TIP! The new bigger cover is actually nicer because it makes it easier to open the slide!
Yeah i too like many other have had to call numerous times. Most reps in customer service know nothing of the replacement. After being told that my “battery was not one experiencing the issue” and after letting them know that they had already sent me another standard battery no more than a month ago and STILL being referred to HTC i decided to skip the middleman and go to PDA support. After talking to a lovely tech rep named Michelle who did not know about it but did the smart thing and asked a fellow rep that did, she apologized for me waking up at 8:30 am on a Saturday to call in about a battery TWICE… she informed me that my battery would arrive no later than 8/12/2008 and that she knows the battery would be great and i didn’t have to return the other two i have!!
All in all as a CSR(customer service rep) for AT&T i can say that I LOVE T-MOBILE AND WILL NEVER LEAVE!! I’ve had their service for 5 years and have worked for the devil.. i mean AT&T for the last 3 so i can say that the company i work for would never do something like this to resolve a known issue with one of its most popular devices.
Thanks to all. My phone power is much better for me. I can go much longer before I have to charge it. Thanks again. I am very happy.
ok well i went to tmo store and just as trappertam stated they dont even have the batteries in the store the guy didnt know how to help me so he just told me what i wanted to hear…nice 45 min drive to my nearest tmo store was a waste, and iv called 4 more times and now im being told after i tell them where to find the article that due to me being a flexpay acct. i am not entitled to the battery at all, im calling the wrong dept and one time conveniently had my call dropped, i thought i would love tmo but i do not appreciate the way they treat customers, flexpay or not i pay my bill on time every month and i get treated like a second class person, not cool
Well I got mine yesterday but it was just a standard battery not the extended battery. So, I called back to 611 and the t-mobile guy apoligized and said that they would ship out the extended battery right away. He didn’t care at all that I now had an extra battery so now, woohoo I have two standard batteries and an extended on the way!! WEEE!!
hello folks, I have an update for some of the folks who have not been able to order a battery. for flexpay customers, a trouble ticket has been opened to resolve the issue of you not being able to order the battery. I will let you know when the issue has been resolved. just be patient, we’ll get there. prepaid- you can’t order the battery, and you won’t be able to, because the shadow is not sold as a prepaid device. translation: we don’t have a method to order it and there are so few of you they are not going to invent one. employees of t-mobile? we’re still stick put in the cold at this point. if you are ordering a battery and the rep tells you they cannot find it in STREAMLINE, tell them to look in known issues, battery drains too quickly (resolved).
I received my battery saturday at noon and threw it into my phone and the power level was at 53 percent. so what I did was try to drain this suckers life and give it a full complete charge. so what I did was created a playlist of all my mp3’s and avi’s and try see how long sucker lasts at 53 percent. it wasn’t until 7 pm that saturday that I got a critical warning that my phone was dying. I looked at the battery meter and it wa at 5 percent. so luckily I had the slimline battery charged before hand and used that battery until 2 am. so I threw back in the new battery and charged it overnight and went off on my way to work sunday morning and used my phone as I usually and surprisingly it didnt die. so as im typing this at 12:45 am monday morning, with only 1 overnight complete charge my battery is at 62 percent! I love this battery and I love allshadow!
5 min phone call and its on its way…Thanks allshadow
just grabbed my package out the mailbox and opened it. I GOT TWO EXTENDED BATTERIES AND TWO DIFFERENT COLOR COVERS! :-O I just wanted one LOL. Anyone know of some sort of dock I can buy to charge all 3 of my batteries now?
I guess i’ll give them a call after work and hope ill be able to order. Ive had my phone for over 6months so hope they can do it.
I’ve gotten the extended battery, but also included was a sticker for a return item..are you suppose to keep the old battery or send it back to them?
I just called 611 and they said hmm let me see- o yeah I can send one right out to you, it should be there in less then 7 business days. “Very Easy”
Good to hear that most people are having good luck!
I got a battery in the mail…but they just sent me a standard one - ugh!
Pavan, call tmobile because I believe you were sent one that you may be charged for on your bill. not cool. also, the rreturn sticker received tells me that the person who sent you the phone dajutsu, did not do it right. you are not required to send back your old battery. call tmo and have them straighten that out.
So, it took me two and a half hours and 14 people tonight to get mine but it’s finally coming. My only worry now is that the guy said it wasn’t coming with a back plate or at least it wasn’t showing one. I can only hope that it does ship with one. Technical assistance was the department that I finally got it through. The other comment I have is that one of the people that I got transferred too told me that it was a big rumor going around tmobile and that this program wasn’t in place. Hope everyone else has an easier time than me.
yah. definitely cool. called friday. received them monday from USPS, and 2 batteries were in there, copper and sage covers as well. haven’t tried them out yet as im trying to drain the original battery then recharge it and see how long it goes from a regular days use. Then trying out the extended battery to see how long that will take to drain. thanks allshadow and tmonews for the tips, like others have said. much appreciated!
UHMMM…. ok so i called t mobile on tuesday because my phones defective so theyre sending me out a new phone, and the representative told me about the new battery and said im eligable but couldnt process the order at the same time and said he would call me back in 48 hrs. he did NOT. So i called and spoke with a rep, she said I cant get the Extended life battery because on im FLEX PAY. WTF IS THIS!? Im paying the same amount as a regular acount and bought the shadow as the same price as anyone else, why shouldnt i be able to get this extended life battery. the stock one sucks! anyone else run into this problem or familiar with it? I think its complete BS.
So the first battery that I got was the standard one. So, I called back and the rep had me off the phone in like 2 minutes and said my extended battery was on it’s way. But he also said I could track it by reference number as my telephone number with the dashes. When I type that number in it only pulls up the standard battery marked delivered. Has T-mobile shipped to anyone else with someone else other than UPS?
My rep told me it would be UPS Ground, but it appeared in my mailbox instead from USPS. I kinda figured it would since I read it on here and no package was found on the UPS site with my phone number as a reference.
I placed my order last week and it arrived only to find out I have to reorder, as they sent me a 920mah battery instead of the 1350 mah.
The PART NUMBER is PH0E170 EXTENDED LIFE BATTERY
Hopefully I’ll get the right one this time!
Thanks for all the great software, information and Shadow support. I ordred my extended battery today and look forward to getting it in about seven days. Before you order your extended battery get connected to the PDA section of Tmobile’s Customer Service. When I called in the first time through the regular Customer Service Dept, I was told that there was no battery. I called back and asked for the Shadow Dept. @ 1-877-453-1304 and asked for the extended Battery, also make sure it isn’t a replacement battery. I will give a update when it arrives. Thanks Mike,
Grace
OK…
Just like many people here - I got the regular battery as well - made the original request when told to Monday, July 28th…after CS Rep giving me a hard time to send it in the first place I made sure various times that he was in fact sending me the new extended one…not the 920 mAh…and what did I get on the 31st - the 920 mAh…
Called back furious - spoke with a new rep that just started working there after the first call forwarded to shadow support hung up on me stating it wasn’t available at the time and just hung up…
anyway - when I spoke with this new girl - she offered to stay on hold herself until she reached someone at shadow support to then switch me over…
It turned out she told me they didn’t know what I was talking about and never heard of the extended battery…
I told her well it exists and I am calling to request it - the first person I spoke with knew what I was referring to but sent me the wrong one - so I want you guys to send me the one I am entitled to - I was told this new battery will be shipped free per existing shadow users request - so I want it.
She put me on hold spoke with shadow support again and returned to me with the same story - they didn’t know and they don’t have such a thing -
I told her with all due respect but I’m not buying that crap - I was told T-Mobile has it - I know T-Mobile has it - I know people who have it already (you guys ofcourse) I’m entitled to it - and I want it now!
She reminded me she was new and wasn’t sure what I was referring to but would try to help - after searching her database she found info on it stating it was called the Extended Battery Kit for the Shadow - and that the request can be made through regular CS and NOT Shadow/PDA support (as mentioned by trappertam)…she confirmed my Shadow color version and processed the order -
I received today (August 5, 2008) and I am happy!
Hope it does what is promised…
So far I have 3 920 mAh batteries and this new one…
I am good to go folks! Say hello to watching DVD movies!!!
By the way the first time was through UPS - but the second time was through USPS
If your order is through UPS - go to their website, click on tracking from Menu above - then click on Track by reference - select a later end date, your country and zip and enter your 555-555-5555 number as the reference number…
If your order is through USPS you have to call T-Mobile the next day and ask them to track it and give you the tracking number…
Just got off the phone with the tech dept and the csr that took my order was the best. she even recommended i visit, get this, allshadow.com! She knew exactly what i was talking about, you guys should definatly call.
can someone please post the model number for the batteries that they do allow the upgrade for because i currently have the battery model that starts with a K (so much for buying this phone on the first day)
to fillcee how long have you had your phone and what was wrong with it?
i just got mine today. they sent two one for the sage and one for the brown….:)
@fillcee it is a fact that flexpay acct holders are not eligible for the battery but its supposed to be resolved soon so that we can, i too am highly offended by this, but im not holding my breath that tmo will have our interest in any way even though flexpay pays the same amount for service and phones
Though I don’t like the thick look, this battery finished charging last night around 10pm…
It is now 11pm the next day and I have 74% battery life remaining after 24 hours of normal use.
On the regular battery by now I would be at 30% battery life after normal from morning to night on the same day.
Very powerful battery!!! Just wish it was thinner!
Got my battery. MY SHADOW HAS A GHETTO BOOTY NOW!!!! From reading the posts, I’m looking forward to not worrying about my battery dying.
Called today (18774531304) said english, put in my phone number, last four of social, then kept pressing zero when asked for reason of call. rep that answered had heard about it but hadn’t done an order for one. He searched his news archive found it, verified i used a shadow, asked for the color, submitted the order, verified the shipping address, and sent me on my merry way. Total time of call 7 min’s which includes the time in queue. Should receive it within 7days by ups ground. thanks allshadow!
I just ordered mine. I had to go through a couple of people, but I finally got it. The first guy didn’t even know what a Shadow was, so he transferred me to a csr. She knew about the promo, but transferred me to PDA. He knew about it immediately, verified my phone number, last four of SSN# and address. Specified copper or sage (sage), and read a script. No mention of returning the other battery. 10:52 total. No verification of battery number, shadow serial number or anything. They know more about this offer from this site than their own internal documentation.
i actually the battery being bulky now, i can actually hold my phone a lot better, glad to know everyone is getting things good and square!
Well I think the battery is awesome. I do not like the bigger “look” but I can get over that very quickly cause this battery last so looong! I was sailing all weekend and my phone actually lasted more than a full 24 hours! DUDE 24 HOURS! Seriously it is way better.
hello folks! we have some new info! first, the battery listed above is the correct one, model #PHOE170 that should be sent put to you. it is no longer necessary for us to verify your battery type, however, because we have improved our systems and can see if you have ordered one before. next, we are still working on the flexpay issue. please be patient. we know you want one and are working around the system as fast as possible. for those of you having issues with a csr finding the article, it has been removed from the news archive of streamline. they must now find it in known issues of the shadow UNRESOLVED. please note that they MUST scroll to the bottom of the screen to are the instructions for ordering a battery for you. PLEASE HAVE THEM DO THIS IF THEY CANNOT FIND OR DO NOT KNOW WHAT yOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. thanks from your local tmo csr and fellow shadow owner, trappertam.
*************NEWSFLASH************
flexpay customers can now order the tmo shadow extended life battery.
I just ordered the extended battery from tmobile, I wasn’t given ANY problems, and the tmobile customer service knew exactly what i was talking about.
her name was Lucia
Just called and got a new extended battery ordered with no hassle whatsoever!
ahh finally got my battery today woo hoo, none of my cases fit on the back anymore but i wanted to protect the front more than anything, im very happy
and thanks trappertam you rock !!
I called and they said my shadow was too new… I just bought it on Thursday. The lady said since I was still under the 14 day warranty and it’s a “new” shadow, I’m not entitled to it. (Yet?)
Just called the PDA department. The person I spoke to did not have a clue at first, but after some “reading” he found the information and placed 2 orders (we have two Shadow phones). I wouldn’t have realized this withtout allshadow.com. Thanks a lot!!!
I just spoke to TMobile, and he says that my battery, model K0160, is not the defective model, and that they can’t give it to me. A-*****.
Called customer care today. The rep told me the same thing, that the model number of my battery was not covered in the promotion.
Rather than argue with them, I simply thanked them and called right back and got another representative who knew exactly what I was talking about and she never asked for a model number. She simply asked what color I needed, and confirmed all of my shipping info. I should be getting it in about 9 days.
Friend who has flex pay and was told prior that she could not get battery called last Thursday in 5 min had battery orderd and called to say her new battery arrived yesterday…so flex pay customers can get it.
Thanks! Just ordered mine with no hassle.
Just received 4 batteries and 2 Sage covers and 2 Copper covers
That’s more than I needed. Thanks T-Mo!
I just called tmobile and the rep I talked to said that the offer is no longer valid and you can’t get the extended battery any more. Anyone know if this true?
In response to Miles, no thats false. I just ordered mine 5 minutes ago. Tell them to look under the “upgrade” section.
The new battery is Great, and its even better when you also download the savebattery.cab file too.
Instead of my phone being at like 50 % after school, its like 75- 85 % so im wayy happpy
I just called and got mine replaced. so the offer is still good as of 02oct08
I just got off the phone w/ customer care, and they said they’re sending me a new battery. Still working.
Just ordered mine. Had to go through battery “test”, just gave model number and it was a done deal.
Just ordered mine from the “Contact Us” number (877-453-1304) on the T-Mobile web site. Said “Extended Battery” at the voice prompt and was transferred to “Accessories”. Laz had me turn off the phone, remove the battery and give him the model number (KII0160). Will ship UPS, should arrive on 12/05/08.
I just ordered one, they are charging me $6.95 shipping. Did everyone else get charged shipping? Also said I had to ship the old one back, was hoping to get to keep as a spare. Did everyone have to ship theirs back?
Curt
I just ordered one while checking into upgrade options from my MDA on another line, the rep found the information no problem. Should be here in 5-7 days.
Just got off the phone with PDA support. At first she was going to send me a standard battery for free, but then I was able to convince her I needed the extended. No shipping charge, 5-7 business days.
5-7 days $0.00 free ground shipping I don’t care if it buldges it’s free and I want it. GOOD DEAL! You guys are forgetting how much these devices can do with thier slim selves in comparison to other devices in the same category. (stressing the phrase “in the same catgory.”)
on another note, I know that had some type o’s but I’m making tacos right now in my kitchen so my attention is elsewhere….mmmm…tacos.
i need a new standard batery COVER but i cant find it anywhere!!! If you know, help!!!!!
my email is pinales_s92@yahoo.com if you know where i can find a standard battery COVER!!!
