Free DVD Catalyst…Free

Okay good news and more good news First the good news, I tested this out on Vista and it worked great. Now the more good news is it also works on XP. If you remember we posted about DVD Catalyst 3 awhile back and gave it a high rating. DVD Catalyst Free is not DVD Catalyst 3 but it comes from the same people, which means it should work but if it doesn’t don’t let that reflect on DVD Catalyst 3 until you try both.

A word of advice, don’t insert the DVD until you have opened DVD Catalyst Free and selected Windows Mobile from the drop down menu. Also you might need TCPMP on your Shadow to play the movie. If the file size looks a bit big for you just grab that white slider at the bottom and move it until you’re happy.

You can get DVD Catalyst FREE in our store…for free

This thing works great. Also you might want to look into DivX and DivX converter. I have it on my phone and i can play all most any type of movie.

okay, so after playing with it for a while, ive got to say that this is one awesome piece of software.. not only does it convert dvds (using the windows mobile profile for xvid encoded avi files) to view on your shadow, but you can also select and convert several other supported movies files! way useful.. i highly recommend it!

this is the response I got from there website hopefully it helps others that are having the same issues
Hi Sir,

In ActiveSync, you can select the storage location for the video file.

The easiest way to transfer with ActiveSync is this:

Cnnect your device and open ActiveSync.

Then in ActiveSync, click on “Explore”
This will open a filebrowser.
There should be a folder named Storage Card or MemoryCard.
Doubleclick on that.

then use another explorer dialog (doubleclick on my documents or my computer) and find the file you want to transfer Then drag the file onto the folder you opened through activesync.

The transfer through ActiveSync is quite slow. The best way is to use a memory card reader.
(usually around $10 at the local computer store) With a card reader, it is just like transfering files from one folder to another folder, and is a lot faster (10x-20x faster)

In the manual is a section for transfering files with screenshots on how to do it.
