Thanks to Joe for bringing this one up. For all of you that would enjoy having NES on your Shadow or other Windows Mobile device, prepare to be thrilled. You can be up and running your favorite game in no time. Just follow these instructions.
- On your Shadow go to mobile.surrealnetworks.com
- Click on Applications for Dash
- Scroll down to Pocket Nester Plus and download it
- Run the cab file if it doesn’t automatically
- Go to Start > PocketNesterPlus > Options > Controllers > and assign the keys to your liking. Don’t forget to assign a key to Menu
- Go back to Internet Explorer, from the same page you downloaded PNP from is a link (in the same paragraph) that lists a directory of NES roms/games.
- Download the game you want and start playing!
- The mega packs don’t work so we’re creating one for you. Should be up in the within a day.
Enjoy!
For another source of ROMs see our page on NES Pocket Nester Plus

it doesn’t work for me I downloaded it and it says that it is meant for a previous version and when I change the controls nothing works the game goes by itself and I’ve tried with multiple game only button that works is menu
any ideas?
July 17th, 2008 at 3:07 am
tito, once you have found the menu button, make sure you go to the controller setting and change the keys. one thing to point out is that when you are changing the key setting, delete them all and then go one by one and add in the keys. this way you know that they all have been switched. also I doesn’t say ” button a = 6″, it has it on some sort of button layout system.

tito, did you skip a step in the instructions?

i found this little gem on the shadow forums a while ago.. it’s awesome! definitely a must have! most of the games run at full speed too.. i just turn off the sound to get the more troublesome games running better..

the only thing about this is device is known to freeze on apps like this installed, so make sure this is what you want to download and is it worth having to master reset the phone and having it crash… i work on these i should know

I didn’t do step 5 when I download the pnp and install it I go to start and I can’t find it so I download a game and when it pops up I hit the menu key and then reset the controllers but it still doesn’t work and I deleted all the keys and put them in separately

@kenneth
at times i’ll be playing a game, for example metroid, and pause it to go to the main screen to check a text message i just recieved.. i’ve had it running in the background while doing other things, and the worst that’s ever happened to me is that it slows down windows mobile and locks up the task manager so i have to turn my phone off then on again.. i’ve never had it completely freeze or lock up my phone where i had to do a master reset.. but that’s just my experience

July 17th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
tito, I would suggest uninstalling it completely and starting back at step one.
derrick, yeah some of the FREE games don’t work I had a problem with one or two so far but nothing that breaks me heart. I even found some new ones. Star Trek the Next Generation is difficult to ‘lock the transporter’

To the people who had troubles with getting the controls to work. When you go to Options > Controllers. You first set up your controls, then check that last setting that says (Alternative Key Scanning). I had that same problem, but when I check that key, it works fine. Love this emulator.

so far, my phone crashed when I tried Ninja Gaiden and Metal Gear. I went ahead and deleted the program because it didn’t really work for my phone. I don’t know what everyone who says it works for the did to their phone to make it work, but my shadow doesn’t like this program!
July 19th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I didn’t tweak the phone at all i just downloaded the games and played them. I haven’t tried WWF yet but super mario three and ninja gaiden worked fine for me.

August 5th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
OK I FIGURED IT OUT. ONCE YOU DOWNLOAD THE GAME PACKAGE GO BACK TO INTERNET EXPLORER PAGE WHERE YOU DOWNLOADED THE PACKAGE AND READ TO THE END OF THAT PASSAGE IT SHOULD SAY NES ROM FILES CLICK ON THAT AND YOU’LL SEE A LIST OF THE GAMES. PICK THE ONES YOU WANT AND DOWNLOAD THEM THEN WHEN YOU BACK IN GAME MODE THE BLACK SCREEN GO TO FILE OPEN ROM AND YOU’LL SEE THE GAMES YOU DOWNLOADED IN YOUR MY DOCUMENTS FOLDER AT THE END OF THE LIST… NOW I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE CONTROLLERS TO STICK WITH ALL THE GAMES. SEEMS LIKE I’M RESETING IT EACH TIME I PLAY….
