For new Shadow owners, or those that don’t want to mess with the registry, this file will provide some basic performance enhancements. After installation you will notice that your Shadow is running more to your liking. Be sure to check back now and then as updates will happen.
Enhancements/Changes this file makes to the Shadow are:
- Application Unlock – enables certain programs to fully operate (i.e. Google Maps ‘My Location’ feature)
- SMS Sent Notification turned off – gets rid of that annoying Message Sent notification you get when sending texts
- Disabled Neo Interface Windows Media Player (WMP) – this does not remove WMP from your phone or make it unusable, it only turns off the ‘pane’ in the Neo interface. This specific pane uses a lot of memory and slows your phone down. You can still use Windows Media Player from the Start menu
- Slimmer Scrollbars – slimmer scroll bars means more screen Real Estate
- Larger Glyph Cache – speeds up graphics
- Enable Clear type – smoother fonts

This is great simply for finally removing the windows media player from the neo homescreen. I have mistakenly hit that button several times and had Avril lavigne come on during a meeting or other inopportune moment!! never again. Thanks Alot!

WooHoo! This is great! I simply e-mailed the file to myself, and saved the attachment on the phone, and installed it. Google Maps now works! Thanks! If I could just remove the WMP from the HTC Diamond Home screen that would be awsome!

Rich, I considered adding Smart toolkit, but it is in beta and offered from their ad supported page.
SJSMR2, yes you can uninstall it. Pulling the battery is recommended to ensure the changes happen. But you don’t have to, I’m guessing you have a case around your Shadow. Just leave it off for 30 secs.
Shadow Mike, no the PM was a little different for a different project.
Nick M, you don’t have to but it is recommended so if you do uninstall them after it won’t mess anything up.
To Everyone else, thank you. Keep the ideas coming. Any future releases of the AllShadow Performance Enhancement (ASPE) will contain changes and enhancements that 70-90% of the community will enjoy. It won’t be possible to include everything but we will consider everything.

Derrick, yes it will work with smart tweaker although I can’t tell you how ST will interfere with the changes this makes.
Devin, yes if you can sync your Shadow to your apple then download and transfer it. Otherwise you can email it to your email account setup on your Shadow (or mms it)

To the post above. I wanted to do the same thing. But trust me. Killing WMP on the Neo screen saves memory. And the app unlock opened up Google Maps and I am sure it will be useful for other programs too.

I have found 1 problem so far: when I go back to the home screen from wmp, it stops playing and I can’t open it up again. I am forced to soft reset my phone to get it back.
I like the cab except that it messed with my wmp, I would like another 1 that has that fixed
to those who are running opera mobile, you can download it from there straight to your phone
I tried off of skyfire (which I love btw) and internet explorer but opera is the only 1 that got through

DJ_Zephyr, I was unable to recreate the problem you are having. Check the button assignments you have in WMP. In WMP > Menu > Options > Buttons. What button are pressing to go back to the home screen? Do you have any custom panes in the Neo interface?

Love the “all-in-one” enhancements!!!!!!!
Didn’t require a bunch of different CABS to accomplish all this. I’ve tried a couple of homemade CABS that you mentioned on this site, and my Shadow acted up, so I removed them. But this CAB is working flawless.
MY LOCATION actually works on Google Maps! I believe I asked about MY LOCATION on Google Maps before on this site, and someone replied that I needed a bluetooth GPS connected. The Google Maps loaded pretty fast with the tz-hck.
No problem with my WMP going back to the home screen.
Love the faster NEO. Glad you got rid of the slow loading WMP neo icon and made all icons smaller.
Can’t wait to see whats in store for v2.0 :o)

another thing is that im not using the neo interface, im using a mobilerob alarm info homescreen which looks like the normal windows mobile homescreen except it includes a shortcut to the alarm

I loaded this cab and I didn’t see any changes.
I still had WMP on Neo home screen.
Also SMS Sent Notification was still popping up.
Is there something I did wrong?
I e-mailed this cab to me and loaded like the instructions said.

I’m glad I downloaded these enhancements but I’m already missing the WMP pane on my homescreen lol. Is there a way I can restore that pane but keep the rest of the enhancements? Also, why not include the tweak to have the clock on every window that you open? That’d be sweet. Nonetheless great work ShadowMike!

Odd thing happened to me… I downloaded and installed the file (along with SMS bubbles and streaming media) and they all functioned but my Shadow was running super slow. Did I have too many programs installed?

Guys I can not get this to install on my shadow. I emailed the 3 files to myself and was able to download. When I tried to open the .xml file, it gave a bunch of code. I tried opening the other 2 files but the shadow said it is unrecognizable. Someone please help a brother out!

I am having the same problem as Tim. I put the update on my PC then transfered to my phone and clicked on it but just a bunch of coded stuff popped up. The other 2 files it doesnt even recognize. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!

Same thing as Tim and Aubrey. My phone was pretty new, so I did a hard reset, re installed this….same code. same pop up after text…i am not sure what changes i am suppose to notice, but I notice nothing.

I must be doin’ something wrong… I downloaded this onto my computer and then used the file manager that Shadow offers to transfer it onto my fone… prob is that I try to click on it under documents and it wont do anything? What am I doin wrong? This is NOT the first time I tried using advice from this site and it not work… not the site’s fault if other ppl r able… its just this shadow dork isnt savvy… HELP!!!
