For your next phone, what are you thinking? Here’s a quick elaboration of the poll choices to help you decide.
iPhone 3G: Buying an unlocked iPhone 3G and using it on T-Mobile probably won’t be possible now that Apple is requiring in-store activations, unlike the first iPhone. If you’re going iPhone, you’ll have to jump to AT&T, and the price is $199-$299, plus a required $30 per month for unlimited data.
Shadow II: What you’ve heard is true, and we’ve confirmed this with at least two highly reliable sources. The Shadow II is a refresh of the existing Shadow, which will add Windows Mobile 6.1, UMA (for using HotSpot@Home), a faster processor (260MHz versus 201MHz), bigger battery, and redesigned exterior (with the same SureType keyboard). No 3G. We’re 90% sure on these details. It’s likely to sell for $150-$250 with a new contract.
Touch Diamond/Touch Pro: There’s a chance that we may see one of these devices on T-Mobile sometime in the second half of this year as the Shadow III, or another name. The Diamond is being sold now unlocked for about $850, and the Touch Pro will go on sale soon unlocked for around $1000. Ouch, pricey. Even if you buy either device now, they won’t work on T-Mobile’s 3G network (which isn’t widely deployed yet, anyway) or AT&T’s existing 3G network, because it has European bands. You will be able to get EDGE speeds on T-Mobile, though.
BlackBerry Thunder: Little is known about the first touchscreen BlackBerry, but we do know that it will be exclusive to Verizon indefinitely. With a new contract it’s likely to run $300-$400.
No clue/other: Is there something else that you’ve got your eye on, or are you just going to wait on the sidelines for a bit? Tell us in the comments!

The only thing i could possibly go for right now is the unlocked HTC Touch Diamond…only reason why im not getting it now is cause of how expensive it is!

Out of all the options I will probably be looking at a blackberry bold for my next phone, its going to be on Tmobile, not $800-1k, and although no touch screen, 100% livable.

Well. I would like the Iphone 3g due to the price and the feature but I would not like to leave T-Mobile. I heard a carrier in Italy would offer it PrePaid Plan for $500.
I am looking for Samsung i900 but what happens is that those phones Diamond, Xperia, Samsung i900 are around $800.

shadow ii doesnt rank up there with these phones and i need an entire qwerty keyboard!

To be very honest I am completly happy with my original Shadow with WM6.1 and modded to my likings. But if or when it finally peters out on me, I’ll probably jump on the ShadowII. I am not a big fan of touch screens after owning a Wing and a LG Prada. Shadow all the way baby…

Oh so they are upgrading the processor and battery. That’s cool, but I’m still not thrilled about the Shadow 2, so I’ll be getting a blackberry bold or a Dash 2 instead if they ever make one. Maybe a Touch Pro if they get way cheaper too.

I love my modded/customized shadow. I’m going to wait for a 3G T-Mo phone - I’m not concerned about the keyboard or touch screen: I’ve had both of these in a Garmin PPC/GPS for 5 years, and frankly, they make very little difference in usability, IMHO. A fster processor will come with future releases. The only thing Along with 3G, I’ll want a site, like ALLSHADOW, that offers incredible modding options and tweaks. Now that’s the best part of a new tech device.

If I can get the money, i’m going for an xperia x1. Hopefully will be release on t-mo’s 2100 band for 3G.
If not, maybe a touch pro on a contract if it comes to t-mobile.

t-mobile will have the blackberry thunder I work there I know

Blackberry Bold! 9000. Thats what i want!

I would like to stay with t-mobile and will wait for a 3g enabled smartphone or ppc. I am still holding out hope that the Shadow 3 will be 3g and I seriously doubt they will be charging 500+ bucks for it. unless they want everyone to switch to att or verizon.

One of the above, still evaluating…

Where exactly did the information about the iPhone3G will ONLY be activated within stores(not at home anymore) if purchased at Apple Stores??? Is it anywhere on the Apple website???
According to a sales associate at my local Apple Store, that is not valid information… “At home activation will still be the norm for Apple Store purchases according to the Apple Store person”.

i want to see what the shadow III is gonna be looking like. the shadow II disapointed me with its rounded edges. it looks like a girls phone. im just gonna stick with the original shadow.

June 16th, 2008 at 12:51 am
well i havnt read these comments. but we know the touch pro will be the T-Mobile MDA IV and the Diamond will be the T-Mobile MDA COMPACT IV….
so as soon as one of those come to america. hell ill import one if i have to. ill be picking one of them up.
June 16th, 2008 at 4:40 am
I really like the Shadow, and as long as this site is up to help me mod it out, yeah I’m gonna stick with it.
3g Would be nice, but at the expense of getting (IMHO) and uglier phone? Nah… I don’t like touch screen phones and Full Qwerty Keyboards’ buttons are way too small for me. Honestly, the Shadow is perfect for what I need in a phone so I’m sticking with it through and through
June 16th, 2008 at 10:44 am
i really was thinking about getting the 3G iPhone but since i work for AT&T i’m not really feeling like being attached to the company any more than i already am. I think i’m just gonna hold out for the launch of T-Mobile’s 3G network stateside and see what type of devices they pick-up.
Just an FYI, there is gonna be a 3G blackberry launching eventually… i hate crackberries but for those that didn’t know it is on the way…

I am really torn about what my next phone will be. I love my Shadow but i think i need a full keyboard. I think maybe i will just go with a BB Curve. If T-mo gets BB Thunder i will consider it but unsure about touch-screen only!
June 16th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
None of the above choices have me super excited, and I am NOT moving to AT&T.
I have been happy with my Shadow (it is the most stable WM phone I have ever owned), and I am liking it even more after finding this site! It is hard for me to justify spending money on an upgrade and still not get 3G and GPS.

no clue yet! ><
June 16th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
xperia x1!
June 16th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Waiting for WM7.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
hey Jason, that xperia x1 is awesome. I noticed it has the 1700 band as well so there is no reason t-mobile could not get it unless it has been dedicated to another carrier. This phone is the one i want now. thanks!
June 17th, 2008 at 8:52 am
ya sure i’d get the touch pro…execpt for the price! i’ll get the shadow
June 17th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
3G and gps is not enough for me to switch carriers. I do want an Iphone cuz the shadow lack some basic features to me and it doesn’t play well with my macs, and I know Iphone will work with my macs. but my next phone I’m looking at is whatever htc releases with android on t-mobile. I like the shadow, its the operating system I don’t like
June 18th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Yeah, gotta to agree, “allShadow.com” is a pretty sweet community. With all the enhancements, why would I want to settle for a vanilla phone. When the well gose dry and my phone is no longer fun…like 8mega pixel, optical zoom lens, 4G data web, 2 way video, until then, I’m okay.
June 18th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I’m happy with my Shadow
August 2nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm

August 6th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
