One of our most popular featured downloads was found in the Tired of Neo? Download HTC Home post made last month.

Well, we now have an updated version of HTC Home that grabs some visual elements from the newly released HTC Touch Diamond.  It features a analogue-style clock, an application launcher strip, plus larger icons for Home, Weather and Favorite People.  Click here to download.  And, if you want to customize this plugin, there’s a thread in the forums that describes how to add RAM, Battery, and cellular service indicators to the screen, among others.

Update: Thanks to ShadowMike for pointing this out.  In order for this Diamond visual update to work, you must first download the original HTC Home plugin found in this post.

@Elijah;
What do you mean, ‘like all other smart phones’?

Ditto on getting rid of Celsius. It shows Fahrenheit in the Weather Options menu but it won’t let me select it.

To change from Celsius to Farenheit you need to flick your joypad right/left

if this is the cab “I” made and released. you must install the HTC HOME cab that brandon linked to last month. and then install the diamond home.

go into the thead and read how to add program list and others.

also for the user who said this bricked his phone. I fully understand that seitching the homescreen will sometimes freeze the shadow. as this happends to my phone after a full factory reset. with no addins just the factory rom will freeze when switching homescreens.

HOW EVER… To get your phone working again. you will need to hard reset it. (factory reset)

1. take your battery out and press the power button to drain any power still inside diods and resisters.
2. put the battery back in and press and hold the 2 soft key buttons.
3. continue holding the softkey buttons and turn on the phone.
4. it should ask you if you want to hard reset your phone. If it goes to the wm61 splash screen take the battery out and try again.

this will erase everything on your phones memory including reg edits and installed programs, txt msgs, any contact thats on on your sim, etc.

I prefer these screens over any other. Diamond (nice) or HTC. Problem is that neither one will get data for weather unless you are on an unlimited data plan.
I found (via proxy) that the 5.99 plan does everything you need even with wifi disabled; saving me 15quid/month. Also the myfaves portion of the homescreen is totally worthless to me as well.
Great post

For weather anywhere, as HTC Home will not display many cities, http://m.wund.com does the trick for me and I can shortcut my exact zip as a favorite in IE.

Do you have to erase everything on your phone to set the backround.

Shadow Mike
June 10, 2008

Frankie .. Just go into Start > Settings > Home Screen and set the background there :)

To switch to fahrenheit press the scroll wheel to the right. up and down go through the menu left and right slect options. hence why you would press right or left instead of down :)

Ok, strangest thing. did everything to the T…. Go the diamond theme up and running and the percentages for Battery, Ram, and signal strength to show, but the pictures for Battery, RAM, and signal strength are not there!!! what I mean is the tiny png pictures that should be directly to the left of each percentage. How do I get them to show up? Any ideas.

rich, i think you have to change your background image to ‘default’. i was having that issue, too. i’m sure theres a code where you can change the background image though.

Shadow Mike

Now is there any way that we can get that Google search bar in this home screen. With that added, this screen would be amazing!! With that home screen and the SmartTool Kit, it would be perfect.

“FAVORITE PEOPLE” on my shadow, likes to work when it feels like it. Opens then closes right away… Seems like when you first boot the phone it works and you can choose favorites, but after a while something bugs and it no longer works. I’ve read on the forum a couple of people so far have had that same problem.

how do i get rinku’s toolbar on the htc screen?

looby
June 12, 2008

With regards to the issue of My Faves screen not holding it is important to switch your device off\on BEFORE selecting your Faves. If you have the theme installed already uninstall the original HTC home plugin via Activesync Tools\Add and Remove Programs then re-install it. When you have the theme chosen switch your device off\on BEFORE selecting Your Faves and the Weather.

is there some way to keep the clock from the original htc theme?

Derrik
June 24, 2008

The only thing I can’t get to work on this theme is that when you turn the alarm on, instead of the illuminated alarm clock icon next to the time, a “house” icon will be displayed instead. Any way of getting the correct icon to show up?

When you use this homescreen does the weather cost extra if you use it, and by putting this theme on the phone does it automatically charge without notcie for the weather

spencer
July 2, 2008

I’ve been using it for 2 week now. As much as I want to like it, I noticed I had to charge my shadow more frequently. Maybe it’s because it’s trying to retrieve the weather but only works via wifi (the 5.99 hack plan doesn’t work). And it takes a few seconds more of a delay to do anything.

My Faves question..I read the posts that said that they are trouble getting it to work. I am too. It is just as described before, It quickly turns off and I can’t use it. Do you have to subscribe to the service of “My Faves” or whatever it is called with T-Mobile? If not, then how can I get it to work? I don’t get the on/off, reinstall post from before.Anyone willing to to restate it for my big dumb brain?
