Good News:
The image above is the Shadow II with a possible form diluting band around its belly. Either that or the image suggests that we might get more color choices for our Shadows in the form of colored bands. One can only hope it is removable.
Also, the Shadow II will have fully functional, highly tested, money saving HotSpot@Home hardware and software. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one and start saving minutes. Just imagine…
Bad News:
Brace yourselves…no 3G.
Other confirmations have yet to surface so stay tuned.

Well no complaints from me on it, cause I wont own one as it looks ugly. It might just be the blurry pic, but I highly dought it. So 3G or not I dought that will be a deal breaker for most, but the looks…..

I saw this yesterday and noticed the non 3g as well. I still think this is not accurate and they even said in the announcement that the techn specs could be inaccurate. If they are accurate, then T-mobile made a mistake. but it may not matter, since we all might be part of Sprint or ATT through mergers/acquisitions…

ok, so no touch screen, ugly gray band you can probably replace with other stupid colors, no 3G, and probably no built-in navigation? whats the point of getting the shadow II then? those are all major upgrades one would hope to see in the phone’s next-gen model. what exactly will be new other than an upgraded windows mobile? i’m very, very, very, very, VERY disappointed. maybe i’ll switch to at&t and the iphone 2 all together…
June 6th, 2008 at 9:12 am
if we merge with at&t then I will for sure switch to the iphone. I have a mac and getting a windows mobile phone and a mac to play fair is not fun. I like the shadow but it missed a lot of basic features to me. can’t dial by numbers, can’t save email address from text or email to contact info, can’t organize bookmarks, etc

i hear you czar. I really like the Shadow though. All it needs is the 3g with at least 600kbps and I’m good for another 2 years!! the phone is great except for the battery life and needs a little quicker processor. My sister has the iphone which is nice but the thing is very heavy and allows very little customization. Windows mobile is better for that reason alone. I am still holding out hope that the shadow 2 will have 3g.
Regarding mergers, I just heard some rumors out there that either we are going to buy Sprint or merge, or Sprint may decide to buy t-mobile as a reaction to Verizon move yesterday. However the move that would make the most sense would be ATT/t-mobile merger but I doubt ATT would do another big move in the immediate future. The gsm networks are the same and they can offer 3g very quickly to t-mobile while t-mobile updgrades/roll outs their spectrum. plus att would really take over the number one spot for good. My guess is T-mobile will be a hot commodity and or merger partner but something is going to happen soon.

The lack fo features isn’t surprising since the Shadow is an entry level smartphone. More features = higher cost, which would make it anything but an entry level phone. Regardless, the lack of 3g would be surprising since it’s becoming standard on phones. The UMA (hotspot@home) would be enough for me to consider upgrading, although the Vario is looking really slick.
As far as Sprint, someone is gonna buy them cause they’re small and they suck. I’d really be suprised to see T-Mobile touched because they are owned by a large European telecom. I’d like to see T-Mobile acquire Sprint in hopes of expanding it’s coverage which is spotty. They also shoulda just skipped 3g and worked on 4g. By the time they have 3g rolled out everyone else will be rolling out 4g leaving T-Mobile a full generation behind, once again.

i like my current shadow better than this one, this shadpw 2 looks uglier, and no 3g? when the hell is tmobile gonna get 3g??? i am staying with my current shadow unless otherwise, i am thinking about switching to verizon and get the new samsung glyde, now that phone looks awesome, but i dont want to pay 200 dollars just to leave tmobile, i’m trapped!! lol, but the shadow is nice, as someone said, as long as we get 3g for the 1st shadow, i’ll be straight for another 2 years also
June 6th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
you guys are getting me all hyped. i think the shadow i have now will will be my last with t-mobile! lol.

June 6th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
laff…. lmao this will be t-mobiles biggest phone ever.
June 6th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
they couldve made it look better, and how much will it cost?
June 7th, 2008 at 7:24 am
well, on the bright side of things if Tmo gets bought by Sprint, I’ll just switch to the HTC Mogul! if they get bought by ATT, then I’ll switch to Verizon!

here’s another thought, if a cheesy BlackBerry Pearl can have GPS and be smaller than the shadow (i used to have one) whats in the shadow that takes up so much space to not allow GPS? or is it a money issue? now the next-gen doesn’t have it either? Shame on you T-mobile, shame on you…
June 9th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
wow, tmobile step up your game. If this is what I have to look forward to, come february when my contract is up, I’m getting the iPhone 3g

Lets see the “iPhone-3G” has:
8gb or 16gb($299)
GPS
3G capable
Huge screen for surfing
Easy to read screen for surfing
Easy to view photos and zoom/move
Easy to view videos
Touchscreen
Darn good MP3 player
Great graphics
Not quirky (buggy & sluggish)
Only $199 for all this and more.
The upcoming Shadow2 has WHAT?! For HOW MUCH?!
Someone HELP me!
I know there has to be perks in a Shadow2 that make it outstanding to owning a iPhone-3G.
OK, I know its like comparing Apples to LEMONS…

With the economy the way it is, and not expected to upturn till next year (election period)… Consumers are becoming more and more cautious about throwing away money on not-so-high-value items.
A mobile provider designing and releasing a bomb of a NEW phone is a very wrong move at this time.
I heard that Apple was suppose to release unlocked iPhones-3G phones in stores. If thats hogwash, then I may learn to unlock the iPhone-3G so I can use it on tmo. I don’t care for visual voicemail. I just review my voicemails and erase them in the order received.
