Voice Commands

Posted by Mike Benton on May 19th, 2008

The Shadow comes with Microsoft Voice Command 1.6. This little gem can be very handy in a variety of different ways. If you want some in depth information about it go to Start > Voice Command > Menu > Help. Included here is a list of the commands it recognizes. Voice command works with Bluetooth headsets as well and can announce incoming calls, upcoming appointments over the headset if you want it to. The best times to use Voice Command are when you are in a slight rush and don’t have the luxury of looking at your phone’s screen and pressing buttons. If you find you like Voice Command set your Shadow’s shortcut key to launch it quickly. I find the Short Press to be a better option than the long press, there are a few people that like to set the Short Press and the Press and Hold to launch Voice Command.

I started using the voice activation by accident, but I soon started to love it! it works great with my bluetooth head set which I wear whenever im driving. I show off this feature to my friends like those sync commercials, play - smashing pumpkins.. haha :-P its great for making calls, checking the date, checking voice mail, and a bunch of other things. if you haven’t tried the voice activation, I truly recommend it! its amazing!

it’s a very cool feature when driving, I can get my txt messages and not have to look at my phone.
If only it would WRITE txt messages for you through voice prompts… but I’m probably just wishing too much right now

its nifty BUT its impractical becuse it does not pronounce much slang and thats primarily what texts are. the voice is too fast and its hard to catch all of what she says. i havent found a way to get her to repeat which leads me to have to check it ANYWAYS. kinda useles. but its very helpful when i cant have my ringer on like during a movie or at work. i give it a b-.
