Dave sent this one in: While everyone is waiting for the promising SkyFire browser there is yet another mobile browser to check out. TeaShark operates a bit like Opera Mini. It runs through the Java Manager and has a good range of features including some promised yet not implemented yet.

Features:

  • Full Web Page Browsing
  • “Intelligent Mouse” for navigating
  • Landscape Mode
  • Multiple tabs
  • History
  • Bookmark management with color tagging (soon to be manageable via desktop browser as well)
  • Click and Search
  • Phone number recognition
  • Smart web address entry
  • Find text
  • Built in web search
  • RSS Reader
  • In-line text editing
  • 2 level zoom

While it seems to be a bit more responsive than Opera Mini there is an occasional error (just press No when you encounter them). Additionally when mousing over an image or link it disappears and is replaced by a gray box that makes browsing a bit tedious. To get hold of TeaShark just go to www.TeaShark.com or point your mobile browser to wap.teashark.com

I installed this program and the only problem I have had is that when you try to type in the search, the letters you hit on the shadow keyboard aren’t what appear on the screen. It’s like it has a hidden keyboard you are supposed to know about

Hello All! I just tried out the “TeaShark” java browser. The “hidden keyboard” is just the standard “alpha-phone” layout that our Shadow dose not have. (2=abc, 3=def, 4=ghi, 5=jkl, 6=mno, 7=pqrs, 8=tuv, 9=wxyz). Under tools is the option for rotating the screen into landscape layout (not as cool as it should have been) and “using phone’s editor”, which will solve that keyboard problem. I think for the moment, I am more comfortable with PIE.

i was able to download a different Jbed.exe which allows you to get full screen viewing and also corrects the gray bar issue. its called esmertec Jbed. it also seems to work well with opera mini. I would be happy to forward this to you Mike.
