Aside from the lucky few in our forum community there are still many waiting for the Android Hero update, so where is it? Apparently only devices sent directly from HTC have the update now. Anyone not willing to flash a new ROM to their phone by themselves will have to wait for T-Mobile to get More >

Without a doubt, Skyfire is in demand. Over a week ago I downloaded my beta copy and have enjoyed it ever since. It does break my heart a little that not everyone can enjoy it yet. However my hopes were lifted with this recent email concerning Skyfire and the beta program. Hopefully this will left More >

Ever since the Exclusive Video on Skyfire I have received numerous emails asking how to get Skyfire. Skyfire is in private beta right now, so the options on getting it are limited. Skyfire operates both on your device and on the Skyfire servers and that is one reason why it works so well, distributed browsing.

The more I use Skyfire the more I like it. I keep giving myself reasons to use it. Did you know it was Valentine’s Day? Yeah! So I used it to check movies on Yahoo’s Full Movie site instead of the mobile site. I also showed my brother his company’s website on the browser. And More >

I have been lucky enough to be included in the closed beta of the new Skyfire Browser. Before I opened the newly installed browser on my windows mobile standard smartphone, I honestly didn’t think it would be as cool as it turns out to be. Watch the video below to learn more:

thanks Mike. I signed up on april 2nd for Beta 2 so I’m probably not going to invited until July… oh well, I didn’t know about Skyfire until I found allshadow.com. I emailed Skyfire today letting them know your site has been a great resource for information on Skyfire and that you specifically should be congratulated. Thanks Mike.

well guys I signed up in jan. I got an email at the end of march saying that everyone whom signed up for beta 1 will be move to beta and will receive the down text at the end of april. here it is the end of april and still nothing. so maybe it will come soon but in all honestly I don’t think it every come out.

I’m right with you innocentchild. Signed up on Jan. 28th, got a confirm email that day, and haven’t heard a peep from them since. If they are in fact doing First Come, First Served as they claim, they’ve got a long way to go before all the Beta 1 users get invited.

Exactly with you cheekagoh. Signed up on the same day and more than 3 months later, nothing… anyways, I’ve decided to move on in life and whenever it arrives (if it ever does), it arrives.

until t-mobile’s network gets upgraded to 3G i don’t even worry about advance web browers like skyfire. a lot of the new programs have features that are exclusive to touch screens, so until the shadow 2 comes out (along with the 3G network) i’m happy with my opera mini, vtap, and tcmp!
I agree crayonz, i heard the shadow 2 should arrive in fall of 2008 with 3g capabilities. But if you don’t live in the largest cities, no 3g until next year most likely. my colleagues all have att and i grabbed one of the phones. It was getting between 600kbs to 1000kbs on the performance.toast.net!!! I heard tmobile 3g is only getting around 300kbs but that’s probably because they are going live. anyway, vtap, opera mini, and tcmp for now!

Skyfire, i totally forgot about that!

You forgot the changes they’ve made for the worse. No Rhapsody or Yahoo Music streaming anymore. But they still advertise those features on their website. Pathetic.

The first beta wouldn’t allow me to connect through wifi. This beta version allows me to use it and it works really well, it still needs to be tweaked but I definitely think the skyfire team is on the right path.

Yeah I just got my sms today. Haven’t messed with it much but so far it’s nice! Only gripe so far is that I STILL can’t upload pics to myspace from my phone, but I’ve got other mobile social sites to play with right now so it’s all good.
So far I’m impressed, I’m sure its amazing for the 3gr’s out there

skyfire is not all that great i feel bad for those who haven’t got to play with it because i removed the program from my phone. its not for those of is on edge networks and way too battery intensive on those flash sites or you tube especially using the shadow. opera is perfect for the shadow if you ask me. give tmo time to catch up and skyfire will be worthwhile for us

I finally, after months of waiting got my invite. It worked pretty well on my HTC S621 over wifi, could even view a youtube clip. But I can’t get the thing to connect over GPRS/Edge at all. For simple web browsing I was hoping it could use Edge, then if I wanted to view youtube or so, I could connect to WIFI (if available).
But using WIFI will eat up anyone’s battery really quick. It looks pretty slick, but I can’t use something that will run down my battery too quickly. The youtube stuff is okay, but that’s more novelty. I can just wait til’ I get back to my computer if I need to view clips.

Hey Man I got it today ,Been a while it’s cool. I like it. thanks Mike

I sent my request back in DEC2007, and received my invite yesterday MAY2008. I installed it successfully. Viewed YouTube with no problem.
For those still waiting for their invite. Keep in mind it is still a tad buggy. You have to enter your email and a password to log-in to use the prog. I wish it would save that info, after using it 5 times and logging-in each time, it will get to you.
After logging-in you wait while it connects and auths with their server, then wait while it loads into ram, then wait again while it caches. Its not instant start-to-browse folks. Cool prog for those who really want to browse on a tiny screen.
I used WiFi to connect, and my Shadow has never been so HOT, I was waiting for a meltdown. It ate up the battery in no time.
I think I am going to try Vtap as soon as I read a few reviews. Opera Mini isn’t too bad except for no video, if thats really important.
I am not complaining about SkyFire, only warning you for the real life of using the prog on a Shadow.
Is there a way to view the SkyFire screen in landscape mode??

I downloaded SkyFire today and it works great on WiFi but when I tried to go on EDGE, it says lost network connection. Is there a setting I have to change to activate it?

ShadowFan2008,
I’ve only had to login once. Be sure to send that up as a bug but see if there is a box you should check first.
