Did you know you can use Skype on Windows Mobile? The current version now works great on the Shadow and is compatible with other Windows Mobile Standard phones like the Dash as well. To get started click on the image above and then download the Smartphone version. Once it is downloaded to your desktop, sync your Shadow and run the installer. Everything should install just like any other program. After the installation is complete you can find Skype in your Programs list. Note, it is best that you be connected to Wi-Fi when using Skype.
Skype enables you to call internationally for free. You can even get a SkypeIn number that acts just like your Mobile number except the call is routed through Skype. Great for business or if you don’t want to give out your cell number. Windows Mobile Professional users that want to use Skype have a version as well. Enjoy!

I’m trying to install, but I keep getting “error copying file” when it tries to install from my computer to the Shadow. Any help? thanks

If you don’t want others to know your cell number just block your CallerID.
The only drawback to using Skype on a mobile, is there is a slight delay when talking.
Dave: Be sure to download the Skype SMARTPHONE version and copy it to your SD card. Install to DEVICE.

Thanks ShadowFan,
I must be too dense, but I’m just not getting it. Downloaded Skype Smartphone. Copied it to SD card. Tried to open it on the phone using the File Explorer but it says “SkypeForSmartphone is not a valid Windows CE application.” Sorry I am lost. Any mercy and help would be appreciated.

There’s several versions on the download page. The PocketPC and Smarpthone version as well as the cab versions for advanced users. The cab version is the one you install from the device itself. The other two (with the big buttons) are for installing from your computer over WMDC or Activesync

when i try to install the .cab file it goes through the install process and gives me a “cannot be installed ” message. Any idea?

I got it installed and it seems working!
But, the problem is it always works like a speaker phone. I couldn’t make it softer for private conversation as for normal cell phone calls.

@ vlad, make sure your phone is application unlocked.
@ J Ham, As far as I know it always goes through the speakerphone. You can also use a hands-free headset to keep the call private. I’ve only used a wired headset though, so I’m not sure if a bluetooth headset will work.
