Here’s How to Get Skyfire

Ever since the Exclusive Video on Skyfire I have received numerous emails asking how to get Skyfire. Skyfire is in private beta right now, so the options on getting it are limited. Skyfire operates both on your device and on the Skyfire servers and that is one reason why it works so well, distributed browsing.

Two ways to get Skyfire:

  1. Go to the Sign Up page, enter your information and wait. Hopefully the queue won’t be long and you will be added to the user list and be able to download and use Skyfire.
  2. Wait for the final release, because of the beta status of it there are a few options that don’t work. I’m sure you want a working copy right?

If you do happen to have a friend that emails you the .cab file. It won’t work. Skyfire requires your cell number and some other registration details so the server can appropriately handle the connection between the web and your phone.

Skyfire is a great browser and worth the wait. So be patient it is coming…

I got a beta .cab and installed it, but I can’t get past the ‘connecting’ screen. Although I can get on PIE on any website and have tried when connected via wifi and nothing. Anyone have a suggestion?

help me - Well like mike said, it won’t work even if you had it.

Justin have you tried ove wifi first? Did you reset the phone as well (off then on)?

sadly I have reset the phone numerous times, re-installed skyfire a few times, tried the browser over EDGE, Wifi and connected via usb. I’m thinking maybe a faulty .cab file? Or some sick joke from Skyfire? :)

*UPDATE* I did connect to my home wifi again and it somehow connected. Though it REALLY struggled to load up youtube and play a video. Plus it disconnected alot (though I was sitting next to my router) which closes the app. Thus far I’m not impressed…but hopefully it’ll become more stable and usable.

Am I alone on these bad experiences or is this common?

I have only experienced the lag on youtube when on an EDGE connection. Did you happen to have any apps on your home computer running that might need a lot of bandwidth?

I registered on Jan 28th, but have to yet receive an invite. I would really like to try skyfire, mostly because I don’t have to use 10 different programs to watch a fricken youtube video.

well den will it there be a link 2 download d full version of skyfire like opera mini 4 free wen its ready?

Mike - I did have my normal apps open, but the only firefox was using the internet and I wasn’t doing anything on it…It’s weird as the shadow is my 5th WM smartphone and I can’t get my head around why this won’t function properly. Maybe it’s just me. Oh well, I hope it’s better in the final version :)
