Who Else Wants to Know How to Lock Pictures, etc?

First, we wrote an article on putting a password onto the Shadow as well as enabling encryption on your storage card in case someone got their hands on it.

If you want more encryption in case a family member or coworker needs access to your phone on occasion then there are several programs available. I’ve listed four of the more promising ones here with some notes.

Handy Safe - This is the mid priced one and is also good for credit card info and more. It is about $29.95 (but you can still use the 20% discount for a few more days ;D )

SecuBox - seamless integration with current file system. Mounts the encrypted drive as a folder in the file manager. Strong encryption, priciest of the bunch.

Best Crypto - this one seems to be what most people need. It is the cheapest of the bunch but looks to be the easiest to use. The File Explorer is similar to what you are used to and you can select to encrypt/decrypt specific multiple files at once. For only $9.95 it’s a deal.

FileBarricader - Very handy for one file or for a whole folder. However you can’t select 3 out of 7 files or 10 out of 20 at the same time like with Best Crypto. It does have Secure Delete though which overwrites the data bits a bunch of times so it isn’t readable. Useful if you are getting ready to move onto a new Storage Card (YES you can read old storage cards after files have been deleted. I have done so myself and all I have to say is some people are really strange.) Oh by the way, this one is free so if you use it, donate to the developer.
