The more I use Skyfire the more I like it. I keep giving myself reasons to use it. Did you know it was Valentine’s Day? Yeah! So I used it to check movies on Yahoo’s Full Movie site instead of the mobile site. I also showed my brother his company’s website on the browser. And then…
He owns a Windows Mobile device or two and was really impressed with its capabilities. The Shadow’s screen is perfect for Skyfire. A few comments in the other post about it would come in real handy, like Landscape view for instance.
I have discovered that the browsing speed over Edge is just about as fast as using Pocket Internet Explorer. When I am in my home my signal isn’t that great but why would I use a mobile browser while at home when I have a desktop PC? Outside is when it really matters. There must be thousands of sites that just don’t work with most mobile browsers and Skyfire solves that problem. So yes it does work over the 5.99 plan from T-Mobile.
The ability for it render flash is super handy as well. There are a few tricks I’ve learned with it. If I want to watch a flash video over EDGE I don’t zoom into the video so it fills the whole screen but instead just barely fill the screen.
I can’t wait for the next beta update to see what other surprises they have in store.

Do you think the server side rendering will make this product useless for looking at such sensitive things as bank websites that run flash?
February 14th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Bao, yes it does. I had never heard of imeem till you mentioned it. It actually displays it faster and better than my desktop pc.
HeavyB Not yet man. You can sign up for the beta at http://www.skyfire.com
Cannard, honestly that’s up to you. If you are a super secret double agent spy then don’t look at secret squirrel stuff. Yes it would enhance your security to NOT look at your bank account over the internet, in any browser.

February 15th, 2008 at 7:23 am
Is there any advantage to entering a “Beta Code” when you sign up?
February 15th, 2008 at 7:31 am
Ok the beta is full (no surprise) I wonder if a Beta Code helps your position in the queue.
Too bad they don’t ask what device you have…
They might want to get as many devices tested as possible

how do you sign up for beta testing
February 15th, 2008 at 11:51 am
chris looks like the beta testing is closed for now not 100% sure but it does look that way

@Everyone, if you want to get in line for beta testing go here http://www.skyfire.com/sign-up
There is a line, how long it is I do not know. However, I am certain when the 1.0 release is ready, everyone in the Beta line will be some of the first to know. So in the end it doesn’t hurt to sign up
