Taking a look at T-Mobile’s product page for the HTC HD2 shows some promising enhancements that are sure to ‘redefine what you think a phone can be.’ A few of the outstanding features of the HD2 is the large multitouch screen (4.3”) and a 1ghz processor. That’s a small netbook…large phone! What’s even better More >

Gasp! Wha? Yup, the new rumour on the streets is that T-Mobile is the next contender in the Space Race and will surpass all other current 4G efforts State Side with their new roll out. Currently those speeds are being thrown around Philadelphia in a testing stage. Supposedly this coverage will coincide with the current More >

BGR has a nice little hands on video with the CLIQ that demonstrates some of the blurry BLUR action. The BLUR interface seems nice but now I’m thinking it’d be nice to have that as an app available to all Android phones, and Windows Mobile phones. Looking at the keyboard more closely it appears to More >

I am curious to know what exactly this “Improved text entry experience” really is.
I’m curious about the “Improved text entry” as well. Hmmmm…..
Also, reset to factory settings means what exactly. Do I need to back-up all my programs and contacts and stuff. Yikes. Scared of this update.
I just finished the update, I sync’d my info and used PPCPimBackup to save all my text messages and other settings. I then removed the microSD card and did the back up which took about 15 to 20 minutes total.
I’m looking forward to the Improved text entry blurb as well. I hope that i can spell out don’t instead of font, and see instead of are on a regular basis. It would be nice if when entering unknown words and you select letters using left and right that it would not try to second guess your decision and change your previous selections.

It seems like this update is filler. The only thing I’m interested in is the improved texting, even though I like the way it is now. Except that it doesn’t automatically which to numeric format for entering numbers. After reading the Gadgeteer review seem like they only improved the symbol selection screen. Ill wait for the next one.

i agree with Micheal i hate that when you go to type don’t it spells font and no matter how many types you use don’t it still uses font. Lookin for good things with this update

I font see the update (little joke there…I’m typing this in from a keyboard.) but when I navigate to the link from allshadow.com, I get a big white space, a menu with “update” in bold, and a footer. When I click the update link, I just get redirected back to the same page. Did they pull the update?

Carl,
Do you have Flash on your browser? I just checked and it’s still there
about 2 years ago
No Flash. I need Flash to update my phone?

My Windows Mobile phone?
Carl, no I meant on your PC because the linked to page uses flash
about 2 years ago
I understand, Mike. My desktop computer browser doesn’t have Flash installed. Flash, you might be surprised to learn, is not installed on all computers.
(begin rant)
Furthremore, and I’m sure no one at T-Mobile ever anticipated this: some employers actually block (yes, folks, BLOCK) flash content at their firewalls. Okay, pick yourselves up off the floor folks. Believe me my life would be so much more rewarding if I had access to all the quality programming found on YouTube, but alas I simply don’t go there.
(end rant)
I Got No Flash, T-Mobile. Now what?
Carl, I recommend either using a portable browser with Flash installed or going to a computer with less restrictions.

Is the update free?
So I used the PPCPIM backup as Micheal used and installed the new update without a hitch. Except my downloaded YouTube videos (using TCPMP) won’t play sound anymore. The error reads “Player:Audio codec(MP3) not supported by the play!” Anyone know how to fix this? They all worked before the update.
Other than that, not much different. The “Settings” page looks different with glowing icons now. The text is has marginally better prediction but not anything too drastic. Haven’t tried the goodies (free downloads, etc) yet.
I wouldn’t have updated if I could because I just wasted almost 3 hours!

One more thing…the audio postcards are really cool but probably won’t get used much.

i have an htc shadow, my only problem with it is that i can’t put mp3 songs as my text message alert, if i do, when i get a text message, the whole song will play instead of stopping when i open the message, how can i fix this?
Use a song editor, such as power mp3 cutter which has a decent free trial version, to make the segment you would like to play. Then put that segment onto your phone and voila you have it.
Thus you could make the song shorter or combine different songs…

hey guys i was just woundring if someone can post the update file here… bc on t-mobile you have to put your t-mobile phone # and i dont have t-mobile service but i have shadow….thanks
about 1 year ago
man this update is ultra buggy. After a while phone calls come in silent and the screen gets all glitchy lookin, i have to turn it off and on every so often.
but if you T-Mobile guys really want to make us shadow users happy add one, if not all of these things.
1.Flash compatibility
2.Mobile game support for us gamers
3.A Media Player upgrade so that it doesn’t automatically take songs out of folders and put them into an “unknown artist” folder.

So T-Mobile released a new version of Shadow…and discontinued the firmware upgrade…the ironic part is, you go trough 3 pages that say you need the upgrade and then when you press the final button it takes you to their sales website for Shadow II. What a scam…T-Mobile sucks!!

How do I set a mp3 to my text tone?

help me I heard about this new menu upgrade and idk how to get it
about 1 year ago
on my shadow before upgrading I had to manually select ABC mode for a test message…EVERY SINGLE TIME I WROTE A new message. I upgraded the phone with a generic upgrade and it change that. If I go back and use the upgrade from the tmobile website, will it go back to having to change my writing options every time or does the ugrade take care of that
