This is great!!

I do have a few questions - I have the Shadow with a 400 text messaging plan for 5.99 and the t-mobileweb add on for 5.99.

1. How do you setup the phone to access the internet without wi-fi using the t-mobileweb plan?

2. Which is better to setup a gmail account on the phone, the built-in gmail email setup or using the my messages section under communication tools from the my-tmobile website? Whats the advantages/disadvantages of both?

I’ll try to answer these, but Mike may have better answers (he is out of town until Monday).

1. There should be no setup. Turn off WiFi, and try to access the web. What happens?

2. Use the built-in email setup. That way, it’ll integrate with your phone better (you can email contacts, see new mail notifications on the Home screen, etc).

Does anyone know what Start > Settings > Home Screen > Time Out does? The manual does not explain what Time Out does, and mine is set for 10 minutes.

Thanks!

Time out is the time of inactivity that will make your device go back to the Home screen. It’s really a pointless setting that I just turn off or set to the maximum time so that it doesn’t occur.

Following up to my previous comment about using T-mobile web: With WIFI turned off, I tried to access google.com/m and got error 502 bad request the server could not resolve your request for URI: /m. It took 4 minutes for this error to come up.

My Phone partly connects to the Internet Via WiFi from home and does not download anything form the Internet. Anyone run into this? I also have the same problem as Brian, I have the unlimited Internet ac it took a long time loading as well.

Ah ha!

If you only have the $5.99 TmobileWeb add-on, here’s how you access the web t-mobile web, in other words, WAP.

Scroll down to the internet option in the interface so the IE browser is highlighted, instead on pressing the action key to launch the browser, look at the soft key option on the bottom right of the screen, it says “Browse Tzones”.

That option wil launch the Tzones WAP browser. Instant access to the internet with no wifi!

You can edit the intial screen categories and even add your own favorites through the my-tmbile webste on your pc. Apperiently it takes some time to update your changes to be seen on the phone, so I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to see how Google Calendar, Google Maps, etc. look in the WAP browser.

Now, is there anyway to change the setting so Pocket IE can access the Internet with no wifi on the $5.99 TMobileWeb option.

Brian,

I have the T-Mobile Total Internet Package, which includes Hotspots. I might be mistaken but I’m pretty sure with just T-Mobile Web you should be able to access the internet. Try going to AllShadow.com on your phone. It will pull up a mobile version.

I really need help. When i first got my phone it let me sign onto the internet while the phone was connected to the pc using the usb cord. Now it wont let me on. I want to know how cawn I get on the Internet on my phone like while im walkin around.

This would really help.
~telling me how to reset all of my internet connection settings
~telling me your internet settings if you can get on without a problem
~or telling me exactly what to put for my internet settings

Hey i have two questions.

Just like brian i have the t-mobile web at 5.99 and the 400 text messages for 5.99.

Regarding brain and lawrence to get t-mobile web while walking arround without wi-fi u need to set up a proxy internet WAP connection. Email me if u wanna know how to do that at TimsterDaBomb54321@gmail.com

my questions are that does the 5.99 plan include unlimited email recieving and sending for the built in email setup? My other question is that can i get unlimited GPRS internet from a sidekick plan from a UNLOCKED shadow? The tmobile ppl said that the only way for a sidkeick interent plan to work is on a sidekick but what about if I had a UNLOCKED phone. Will that allow me to get GPRS interent through my sidekick plan?

Hey everyone!

Just got the Shadow. I’m trying to set up e-mail but I don’t have the data plan with t-mobile. Is it possible to access gmail, outlook, and windows live mail over wi-fi? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
