EDIT 07FEB2008: Updated FlashVideoBundle File
Dennis asked if there was a way to watch online videos on the T-Mobile Shadow. Windows Mobile doesn’t include the native ability to watch online video however there is a method for enabling a near seamless method of watching video on the T-Mobile Shadow. We’re not talking just Youtube, there is also Google Video, Veoh, Daily Motion and many more. Now you can one up your iPhone friends…again
What you need:
- TCPMP for Smartphones 0.72RC1 <–Shadow Users (Pocket PC users need this one)
- Skunkworks FlashVideoBundle
- Wifi connection for better viewing
Once you have downloaded and transferred these files to your phone. Install them using file manager. Be sure you install both files to the same place (either Device OR Storage Card), they need to be in the same place to work correctly. Be sure you install the right one for your device.
From the home screen, click the Start button and scroll down the programs list. You will see the ‘TCPMP’ as well as an Internet Explorer icon called ‘Video Sites’, go ahead and select that to get a good list of various sites. Use the ‘Video Sites’ link
***Warning: The default Video Sites file contains links to video sites that contain adult content, to change this simply go to the folder Device > Program Files > TCPMP and delete the folder ’sites’. Next rename the folder ’sites.clean’ to ’sites’***
Note: TCPMP original site has been down for sometime, you can still get other versions of TCPMP here.
Flash Video Bundle was created by zbob and there is a discussion page here.

haha i asked about setting the wallpaper for the phone. I had an image but it zoomed it in. Is there a way to have a perfect fit or atlease not have it show only 20% of the picture
November 28th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
About the pictures, I found this solution http://www.allshadow.com/2007/11/28/the-secret-to-background-images/

is it possible to download those files directly to the shadow instead of transfering them. i have a mac and i dont have my shadow yet but just wanted a heads up so i know if i can try or not
November 29th, 2007 at 12:58 am
hey, when you clicked the link to the video and those options “play video” “save video” came up, how do I get my shadow to do that?
November 29th, 2007 at 3:08 am
Ryan: Yes just view this site from your Shadow and click the links in the article. Be sure to just download the smartphone version of TCPMP as I put a link to the Pocket PC version up as well.
Kamran: Try viewing the site through the ‘Video Sites’ link it installed. Access it from the Start menu.
November 29th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

November 30th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
I have heard that there is a downloadable application that allows you to create new Word documents. What is that website and could you give a quick walkthrough? Thank you!!!
November 30th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
My bad. I reinstalled it and it works fine now. Sorry.
November 30th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Is there a way to increase the volume(gain table?) on the media player through my bluetooth headset? Shadow is much lower than my motorola.
Thanks
December 1st, 2007 at 10:41 am
MTime: there should be two ways to adjust volume - one through the media player by pressing the arrow up button, and two by increasing the system volume by pressing the rocker on the side of the device.
December 1st, 2007 at 7:58 pm

help me and someone
once you have the video or title of video highlighted just press the center select button. if you find that isn’t bringing up the menu in the video try visiting that site from the ‘video sites’ link in your start menu.
rob54
yes thee are several applications that make that possible. look for a new post about that monday evening.
kamran
are you getting any error messages? check the phone volume from the side volume keys and the media player as well. if that doesn’t work a simple reinstall of TCPMP might do the trick
jason
It really depends on your personal preference. However I prefer the Shadow for many reasons. One of those being the Shadow is an excellent blend of style and function.

G and Wayne, how did you get to the site you are trying to view? From Pocket Internet Explorer or from the Video Sites link in the Start menu?
Also did you install both files to the same location (Device OR Storage Card)?
December 4th, 2007 at 11:32 pm

December 5th, 2007 at 12:15 am
hey mike im using a belkin wirless N router and i love it the only problem is i have trouble connecting it to my shadow. i have it encrypted like everybody shuld and when i try to get on it gives the little animation that its tryin to connect but then it stops and in the wifi info box it says wifi unavailable but i am right next to the router imade sure the encryption key was right but that still didnt work then i have to restart the phone to get it to say wifi available so i can attempt again. i do hav verizon dsl and it works great. i also made sure that the router wireless N was compatible. i just plugged in my belkin wireless g router and it works fine but has a range problem ands a little slow. please and thanks everybody BTW love that theres a sight dedicated to the greatest phone ever thanks!
December 5th, 2007 at 1:59 am
Dominic,
There are several settings pages in TCPMP, one of which you can set how much data is buffered. Connection speed also helps, I have 12MBPs down at home.
Hi Sam,
Thanks for the cheers! In your wireless settings in addition to the key be sure that the key index is set correctly as well. I use something different than 1 (which is default) you might have done the same.
December 5th, 2007 at 2:08 am

December 21st, 2007 at 9:38 am
Is it possible to watch videos on other websites that are not on your list? I have tried watching videos on other sites Ex: Gamespot.com and it says i need flash player. I downloaded Flashplayer Lite 2.1 to my phone and the program is on there, but still doesn’t seem to be supported in the browser.
December 22nd, 2007 at 12:44 am
every time im trying to watch a video it’s alway loading then plays for about 20sec and then loads again.. i also allowed it to load for about 5min and it still does it.. who can help.
December 22nd, 2007 at 1:07 am
For the guys that are having trouble —-
After installing files, turn your Shadow off and on. Then go to the video sites app and then click on the LOGO of the site. Then search a video there. You should have the 3 options show up when you click on the TITLE of the video. That should be it. Good Luck!
December 22nd, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Is there a way to watch a video without it lagiing
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:46 pm
Yes, there are some settings you might want to try. They work great for me, since we all have Shadows the same settings should work.
Open up TCPMP > Press Options > Select Settings > Select Page ‘Buffering’ > Change Normal Buffer Size to something higher, I use 4992. Press Done
Back at the main TCPMP screen, press Options > Video > Video Driver > and Select GDI
Once I selected GDI as the video driver, all the video problems disappeared.
This should work for everyone as well.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:38 am
i hope it works too
thanks
December 26th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
If it says your flash player is off or old, turn it off and back on. This worked for me.
December 26th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
when i click on a video from you tube…the play link and save does not show… it just goes to the video and i cant play it
December 27th, 2007 at 7:27 am

December 27th, 2007 at 7:29 am
The reason I ask, is I hate the porn sites on my frigen phone…cant get them to delete
December 27th, 2007 at 12:52 pm

Can my shadow catch a virus if i enter an adult site from the list
December 29th, 2007 at 1:07 am
follow this step it work yes, there are some settings you might want to try. They work great for me, since we all have Shadows the same settings should work.

December 29th, 2007 at 6:06 am
i could be wrong but one of the programs listed as not supported by this program is in fact opera. although i do hope im wrong.
December 30th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Ryan, look through the instructions above, it tells you how to get rid of the adult sites.
Rocky, it is unlikely to catch a virus on those sites. There aren’t many designed for WM
AJ, make sure you follow the instructions and have both programs installed to the same location. If that doesn’t work try installing them to your device instead of storage card.
Benji, I think this is only a work around for Pocket Internet Explorer.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:06 am
Hey, I am having the same problem as some others. When I try to play the video on youtube it does not give me the option that it gave in the instructional video, it just goes to the video page and then says I might have java turned off or I need a new version of the Flash player. I did download both files and everything how I was supposed to, so can you please help me figure out whats wrong, Thank you.
December 31st, 2007 at 11:05 am
i got it working as soon as I shut my phone off and then back on again.
January 1st, 2008 at 1:34 pm
I have a few questions before I try this.
1. Do I need both Packages Installed?
2. Is There a way to only install the Program that enables you to view video?
3. Is there a way to view the Video straight from your Internet Explorer Moble.
See the thing is that I would like to be able to just go right into IE like normal and view video’s on whatever site I load. (usually myspace) and I really dont want all that extra stuff on my phone, just the ability to view.
PS.
Lastly,
will this work to play straming music aswell?
any ideas on how to get rid of the extra?

This is awesome! Thanks!!! And to think, I was going to drop Tmo to join ATT for the iPhone. This phone is way better and less expensive. FYI…I had to restart my phone as well to get the videos started. Thanks again.
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Hey, thanks for the tips on how to view online videos. It was a main reason for my getting the Shadow. However, I still can’t seem to get the video to work. I’ve installed the correct files downloaded from the site about 4 times, and it doesn’t work. I’ve went to YouTube directly from the “Video Sites” thing, and still nothing. I still don’t know how everyone else has fixed it…if you can please fix it for me, I would appreciate it…thanks.

March 16th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Hi Everyone,
I’m glad a lot of people are getting this to work for them. Most of the problems people are having are resolved simply by accessing the video through the Video Sites Link. To do this, from your Device home screen (not Internet Explorer) click Start > (Scroll Down) Video Sites
If you installed the apps as in the instructions above and have a solid internet connection then this should work for you.
Hope this helps!
