The Download Squad has an article on a freeware that helps Mac users sync their Windows Mobile T-Mobile Shadow. Called SyncMate, it apparently can sync everything from your favorits and contacs to converting video for your Shadow.
Do we have any Mac users that have tried this? Does it work as advertised?

So far it’s a no go. I’m running 10.4.11, and trying to connect the Shadow via usb. I’ve e-mailed their support asking if it’s something they are working on, so far no reply. I have had success with The Missing Sync though. http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php Too bad it’s $40!

Wow, it’s unfortunate that syncing has been such a plagued activity for so long. Thanks for keeping us informed. Let us know if it gets better.

Here is the response from SyncMate:
“I can assume that the problem may be caused by the fact that you have Smartphone Edition installed. This OS type requires digital signatures unblocking. There is an application which can unlock digital signature, however it is developed for Windows OS (it is SDA_ApplicationUnlock).
If the problem still persists please, wait for fresh release of SyncMate.”

Michael,
I actually did that and it didn’t make a difference. I will try it again. The thing about this method is anyone that uses standard forms or templates can make their document as a template and have (in excel for example) data fields marked off. Great for students to jot down a quick homework assignment or even use excel for lab data if need be.

So, I suck at computers ( i am the biggest duh head when it comes to them), but i know enough to know why this program wont work. Apple computers have isync already installed, to sync with ipods… and the program said when i downloaded it that I cannot have any other sync ware installed or the program will not work. this frustrated the heck out of me, so I went to apple’s website and downloaded the missing sync 14 day trial 4.0.2… so I’m going cram all the things I need into my phone within that 14 day period to hold me over. Untill enough time has passed and someone writes something better this will suffice. But if there is anything else found sooner, i’d love to know

Now SyncMate is offered in two editions: Standard Free Edition and Expert. Expert Edition is more functional and provides you with access to all plugins. You can view the difference between these editions at comparison chart here: http://www.sync-mac.com/syncmate-expert.html

The new SyncMate (1.4, Build 1.4.0.350) works well with the Shadow. At first it didnt’ seem to; I had my phone app unlocked but when I plugged it in nothing would happen. Then I noticed this in the FAQ in the manual:
Note, that “Enable advanced network functionality” option should be enabled (Settings / Connections / USB to PC), if you use Windows Mobile 6.
When I enabled this, the drivers finally installed on my phone and SyncMate worked! Not sure if this will help anyone, but it helped me.
